Sky Watcher is a renowned brand specializing in the production of telescopes and astronomical accessories, aimed both at amateurs and more advanced astronomy enthusiasts.

Origin and history of the brand

The Sky Watcher brand was founded in 1999 by Synta Technology Corporation from Taiwan. Its products are mainly designed and manufactured at the Synta factory, while the headquarters is located in Richmond, Canada. The founder and initiator of the brand was David Shen, who began his optical journey as a lens polishing technician. His passion for astronomy and the desire to make high-quality telescopes available to a wider audience became the driving force behind the brand's development.

Sky Watcher initially offered a small line of Newtonian telescopes and refractors, distributed mainly in Europe and Asia. In 2000, the first Dobsonian telescopes were introduced, and in subsequent years the range was enriched with Maksutov-Cassegrain models and apochromatic ED-APO refractors. Since the 2000s, the brand has expanded its distribution to the Canadian, European, and later American markets.
