The Sky-Watcher MAK 150 is an excellent telescope for viewing planets and the Moon. It provides a very clear and bright image. Thanks to its long focal length, you can achieve high magnifications. Combining it with a DSLR works great for photographing the Moon or airplanes.
The telescope features a Maksutov optical system known for its outstanding image clarity and lack of chromatic aberration. It includes a spherical meniscus corrector made of Kron glass, along with a primary mirror and a secondary mirror positioned within the meniscus.
The tube has a diameter of 183 mm with a focal length of 1800 mm, and the eyepiece focuser has a diameter of 2 inches. It offers a maximum magnification of 225x.
For terrestrial viewing, a straightening lens is necessary to adjust the image to its natural orientation.
Although the telescope does not include a mount, you can attach the tube to a photographic tripod using the appropriate connector built into the tube. Given the telescope's considerable focal length, the manufacturer advises using astronomical mounts of at least AZ4 (azimuthal) or EQ3-2 (parallactic) class.
The kit comprises:
- dovetail,
- 90-degree angle cap (mirror),
- LET 28 mm eyepieces,
- 9 x 50 finder.
