Sky-Watcher MAK 150 is an excellent telescope for viewing planets and the Moon. It provides a very clear and bright image. Thanks to the long focal length, you can achieve high magnifications. Connecting it to a DSLR works great for photographing the Moon or airplanes.
The telescope is built with Maksutov optical system, the characteristics of which are excellent image sharpness and absence of chromatic aberration. It consists of a spherical meniscus corrector (Kron glass), a primary mirror and a secondary mirror located on the inner part of the meniscus.
The diameter of the tube is 183 mm, the focal length is 1800 mm, and the diameter of the eyepiece focuser is 2 inches. The maximum magnification is 225 x.
In order to use the telescope for ground observations, it is necessary to use a so-called straightening lens, which will reverse the image to the natural (straight) one.
The telescope does not come with a mount, but it is possible to mount the tube on a photographic tripod using a suitable connector built into the tube. Due to the large focal length of the telescope, the manufacturer recommends astronomical mounts of at least AZ4 (azimuthal) or EQ3-2 (parallactic) class.
The kit includes:
- dovetail,
- angle cap (mirror): 90 deg,
- eyepieces: LET 28 mm,
- finder: 9 x 50.

Sky-Watcher is a brand established in 1999 on the initiative of the Taiwanese company Synta Technology Corporation, currently recognized as the world's largest manufacturer of amateur astronomical equipment. The range includes telescopes suitable for various levels of expertise, from simple models for beginners to advanced solutions such as ED refractors, Esprit series astrographs, and Maksutov designs. Dobsonian telescopes are also highly regarded, including flagship models with mirrors up to 16 inches in diameter, as well as precision EQ8 equatorial mounts, which are popular with astrophotography enthusiasts. Since 2008, the company has been developing unique Flex Tube Dobsonian telescopes with a telescopically extendable tube, which have become one of the most recognizable elements of Sky-Watcher's offer in the world of amateur astronomy.
