The MAK 127 SP telescope is built on the Maksutov optical system, the characteristics of which are excellent image sharpness and lack of chromatic aberration. It consists of a correction plate - meniscus, main mirror and secondary mirror located on the inner part of the meniscus. A design of this kind perfectly, performs well in metropolitan conditions where nebular objects of lower brightness are difficult to observe in bright skies. The telescope has a 1.25-inch eyepiece focuser, as well as an angular cap of this size and two eyepieces. For observing deep sky objects such as galaxies, star clusters or bright nebulae, it is worth retrofitting the telescope with an eyepiece with a focal length of 30-35mm.
This telescope collects about 235 times more light than the human eye at night, providing the ability to observe objects up to nearly 12.1 stellar magnitudes (with naked eye visibility up to 6 stellar magnitudes). The size of the mirror is also related to the optical resolution, which in this telescope makes it possible to resolve stars that are more than 1.1" apart.
The telescope does not come with a mount, but it is possible to mount the tube on a photographic tripod using a suitable connector built into the tube. Due to the large focal length of the telescope, the manufacturer recommends astronomical mounts of at least AZ4 (azimuthal) or EQ3-2 (parallactic) class.
