The MAK 90 telescope operates on the Maksutov optical system, known for its superb image clarity and absence of chromatic distortion. It features a corrector plate, known as a meniscus, alongside a primary and secondary mirror attached to the meniscus's inner side. Such a design is ideal for urban settings where observing nebular objects against bright skies can be challenging.
With the capability to gather approximately 180 times more light than the human eye does at night, this telescope allows observation of celestial bodies up to almost 11.4 stellar magnitudes. The mirror's size correlates with optical resolution, enabling this telescope to distinguish stars separated by more than 1.6".
While the telescope does not include a mount, the tube can be attached to a photographic tripod through a compatible connector integrated into the tube.
