The Olive Green fleece jacket with a zip closure offers effective thermal insulation in cool conditions while supporting the release of excess heat and moisture generated during intense physical activity. The Helikon Patriot model is made from high-density fleece with a weight of 380 g/m2. Its spacious cut allows for wearing additional layers underneath, such as thinner sweatshirts or thermal garments. The slightly extended back effectively shields the kidney area from wind gusts, while the overall length of the jacket has been optimized to ensure unobstructed access to pockets and gear carried on the trouser belt.
Breathable fleece
The fleece is made of 100% quick-drying polyester with a weight of 380 g/m2, which provides effective thermal insulation and good air circulation. Thanks to these properties, the material efficiently wicks moisture away, protecting the body from getting cold. The fabric stands out for its durability and resistance to mechanical damage, making the jacket suitable for demanding environments—whether during hiking or tactical operations. Reinforcements on the elbows increase resistance to abrasion and heavy use.
Adjustable hood
Protection against cold and wind is effectively provided by a spacious, enclosed hood, which allows for comfortable wearing of a winter hat without restricting freedom of movement. The integrated soft brim shields the face from dripping water, improving comfort in unfavorable weather conditions. The hood is permanently attached to the collar, ensuring full neck coverage when worn. Adjustment is done via elastic drawcords, allowing precise fit to the shape of the head and the user’s current needs.
Roomy pockets
The jacket is equipped with six spacious and thoughtfully designed pockets:
- two chest pockets
- two sleeve pockets at shoulder height
- one pocket on the left forearm
- one pass-through pocket at the back above the hips
All pockets are secured with durable and reliable YKK zippers. The zippers are finished with fabric pull tabs for easier handling, even while wearing thick gloves. Inside the chest pockets, there is a compartment for a phone and cable openings, e.g. for headphones.
Velcro panels, adjustable cuffs and elastic waistband
Both shoulders feature Velcro panels that allow for attaching patches, unit insignia, or Morale Patches. The sleeves are equipped with hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs, enabling precise adjustment to fit the wrists. The lower part of the jacket includes an elastic drawcord that effectively protects against cold air entering from below and helps retain warmth.

The fleece is great, it protects excellently against the cold, personally I miss internal pockets. Very well made, materials are also of good quality, the Velcro holds well, although it doesn't hold the cover with the phone. Overall, a very good rating and worth recommending.

This is the first fleece that really fits my body perfectly – comfortable and good-looking. Maybe it's a matter of how it suits my physique and won't fit everyone the same, but you can definitely see the design was well thought out. The front of the fleece is slightly shorter than the back, so when you bend over your back is not exposed, and at the same time the material doesn’t gather around the stomach. The pockets are placed higher than standard, at diaphragm level, so items carried in them do not get in the way while walking. The back panel is cut in a V shape to emphasise the figure, if you have one, so the fleece does not resemble a sack. When unzipped, the collar spreads over the shoulders and stays in place without bothering your face. When fully zipped, the collar does not press on your neck or go over your chin, which provides comfort and freedom. The flaps also fold nicely at the hips when unzipped, without hanging chaotically. The hood, which is hidden, fits close to the neck, doesn't get in the way under a jacket, and doesn't interfere with its own hood. When put on, it fits well on the head, moves with it and does not restrict movement. The sleeve does not expose the wrists when you raise your arm, and at the same time does not cover your hands when your arms are down. In short: this fleece is truly designed with a real person in mind, not according to a simple scheme. For me, that's a huge advantage and Helikon-tex gets a big plus from me.

I believe this is a well-made fleece; the material is dense and very comfortable to wear. However, it's missing two things for perfection: firstly, traditional hand pockets (I can't understand why the designers left them out), and secondly, reinforcements on the shoulders, which would protect the material from wearing out due to backpack straps. If not for these shortcomings, I would give the highest rating. Besides that, it’s excellent clothing – I can recommend it with full confidence. One small note: the size M from the description is better treated as an L, because with a 116 cm chest, the M was definitely too small for me. Best regards!

This jacket is more of a warm fleece than a classic sweatshirt – which is exactly what I was looking for. Combined with warm underwear and a jumper, it should do well even in a light frost. I really like the cut, especially the extended back, which protects well against the cold, and the shorter front makes it easier to access trouser pockets or items attached to a belt – this can be important, for example, for shooters or people doing DIY. The only downside is a bit too many sleeve pockets and zips. I would have preferred simple side pockets at the front at waist level, as these are missing here. I am 185 cm tall and weigh 85 kg, I do a bit of training – size M fits well: perfect length, slightly tight in the shoulders, but I can easily fit a jumper or thick sweatshirt underneath. Size L would probably already be too loose.

The Polar is fantastic. At first, I planned to use it only during my military service, but it turned out to be so versatile and comfortable that I decided to wear it daily as well.
