Primus

Primus is a renowned brand from Sweden, known primarily for producing high-quality outdoor equipment, especially camping stoves and outdoor cooking accessories.

Origin of the Primus Brand

The Primus brand was founded in 1892 in Stockholm by Frans Wilhelm Lindqvist and Johan Viktor Svenson. In a small blacksmith workshop, they developed the world's first smokeless kerosene stove. The name "Primus" comes from the Latin word for "first," emphasizing the product's pioneering nature.

Brand Development and Significance

From the beginning, Primus became synonymous with reliable camping stoves, chosen by pioneers and explorers. The brand's stoves accompanied many historical expeditions, such as Roald Amundsen during the conquest of the South Pole in 1911 and Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary during the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.

As the popularity of outdoor sports grew, Primus expanded its range and increased its production capabilities. In 1994, a modern factory was opened in Tartu, Estonia, where the brand's key products are still manufactured. Primus remains one of the few companies that continue to produce its stoves in Europe, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability. Each product undergoes rigorous quality and usability tests to provide users with equipment that performs even in the most demanding conditions.
