This is my first backpack from Wisport (although I already have other products from this company) and I must admit that the opinions and photos are completely accurate. The appearance, quality of workmanship, and thoughtfully planned pocket placement are top notch! Additionally, it's a Polish company that manufactures domestically – that's a big plus.
Wisport Sparrow Backpack 20 l - MAPA
The new version of the popular Sparrow backpack – a compact 20 l model designed for survival and military use, made of 500D Cordura, in MAPA camouflage. The design is based on the urban Raven model and has been adapted for intensive field use.
Durable Cordura construction
Made of rugged 500D Cordura, a material highly resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage, ensuring long-lasting durability in harsh environments.
2 compartments, 5 pockets, hydration system
Equipped with two spacious compartments. In the main one (17 l), four D-rings are sewn onto the back panel for attaching accessories. The secondary compartment features an expanded organizer for sorting small items. Inside the main compartment are mesh pockets with zip closures. The lid contains a flat pocket the size of the main compartment and approximately 4 cm deep – ideal for documents, maps, or a small laptop. On the outside of the lid, there is a small quick-access pocket.
Inside, there is a hydration bladder hook, a hose port, and two mounting points (one on each shoulder strap) for stable attachment of the system.
Main closure and protective flaps
A two-way zipper running along three edges of the lid allows for wide opening of the backpack and easy access to both compartments. All zippers are durable and wear-resistant, equipped with textile pullers for use with gloves. Additional protective flaps shield the zippers from dirt and moisture.
Carrying system, compression straps, transport handle
The ACS – Air Comfort System ensures structure and back ventilation, enhancing carrying comfort. Shaped shoulder straps with quick-release function and an adjustable chest strap allow for a precise fit. The inner side of the straps is made of dense, snag-resistant fabric.
Each side of the backpack features two adjustable straps with fastex 30 mm buckles, used for compression or securing gear externally – such as a tarp, mat, jacket, or camouflage net. A wide and long transport handle is located at the top of the pack for easy carrying by hand.
MOLLE / PALS
The front, sides, and bottom are covered with MOLLE/PALS webbing for attaching additional gear or for quick access to urgent need equipment.
Velcro panel
A velcro panel is placed on the front for customizing the backpack with patches, flags, or morale patches.
MAPA camouflage
The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He is also the author of the publication The Theory of Deconstructing the Visual Message. Tools for Designing Military Camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). This innovative project, supported by strong theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of terrain photographs, gained the attention of military clothing specialists and manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce as the camouflage pattern for the Dromader equipment and uniform system developed by Maskpol, a part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was originally intended for soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces, but the MAPA pattern was also considered as a potential replacement for the wz.93 camouflage across the Polish Armed Forces. Unfortunately, MAPA has not yet been officially adopted as the standard camouflage of the Polish Army.
Key features of the MAPA camouflage in its basic woodland variant:
- 6 colors forming layered shapes resembling contour lines on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in Central European forests,
- use of 3D illusion and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes that mimic vegetation,
- high-contrast elements imitating light reflections and shadows,
- silhouette distortion through macropatterning,
- color noise replicated using micropatterning.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to leading contemporary camouflage designs such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, or Finnish M/05. In some aspects, it is more advanced and better reflects the colors found in Central European forests from late spring to early autumn.

Cordura is a material woven from durable nylon fibers, developed by DuPont. The structure of the material provides lightness and abrasion resistance, as well as weather resistance. Due to its properties, Cordura is widely used in tactical equipment.
Fastex buckles are a popular type of fastener consisting of two parts that snap together, and pressing both sides of the buckle on the sides causes it to come undone. They are often used to fasten belts, backpack pockets and other items where fast and secure fastening and unfastening are crucial.
ACS (Air Comfort System) is a ventilated carrying system that improves comfort while wearing the backpack. The use of a wide ventilation channel and a wide back panel provides better air circulation between the backpack and the user's back, as well as adequate rigidity and stability.
MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a system for attachment of tactical equipment, used for example in backpacks or tactical vests. It provides the possibility of flexible and modular placement of various accessories and pockets, which allows personalization and optimal adjustment of the item to the specific needs of the user. It is widely used by the military, special services and survival and outdoor enthusiasts.
High-quality buckles and fasteners distinguished by their durability and reliability. Made of durable materials such as nylon or polyamide, used in products that require a solid and secure fastener, providing security and comfort.
Duraflex is a type of high-quality buckles, fasteners, snaps and accessories made from durable materials such as polyamide, acetal, as well as metals and metal alloys. They are resistant to weather conditions, UV radiation and mechanical damage. Duraflex products are used for fastening, connecting and adjustment in backpacks, bags, clothing and military equipment.
PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) is a modular mounting system for pockets and pouches, used in the MOLLE system. It consists of horizontally sewn rows of 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, fixed spacing webbing (such as on a backpack) and vertical webbing for attachment and threading (on a pocket). This system is usually equipped with snaps, which further secures the pinned items.

Review summary
The Wisport Sparrow II 20L rucksack is highly regarded for its durability, functionality and build quality. Customers highlight the excellent material choice, strong seams and attention to detail. The rucksack remains comfortable on long days, with an ergonomic harness and structured back that help distribute weight. Thoughtfully laid out pockets and the option for MOLLE expansion make organisation straightforward. Users find it suitable for city life, school, or shorter outdoor adventures. Its robust nature, practicality and smart design make it a popular choice, and it holds up well to years of regular use. Although its solid construction makes it somewhat heavy and there are occasional comments about missing hip or bottle pockets, as well as a premium price, most owners agree the investment is worthwhile. It is widely recommended for those seeking a dependable, multipurpose rucksack.

This is currently my everyday backpack — it works well both for the gym, the pool, and mountain trips. It is very well designed and comfortable, and even after many hours of hiking with a load of about 7–8 kg, it does not cause shoulder discomfort.
-
I bought it with school in mind, and it works very well in that role. Even when completely full and heavily loaded, it remains comfortable. It feels solidly made, so I expect it to last a long time. A great advantage is the option to attach additional pockets, which makes it possible to use it from time to time for a short weekend trip as well. It was also important to me that this is a Polish company and that the product itself is made in the country. As usual, the delivery was lightning fast. I recommend both the backpack manufacturer and Militaria.pl.

I hesitated for a long time before buying it, but in the end I decided to go for it despite the higher price compared with other popular backpacks, and I do not regret it at all. It is a product fully worth its price — solidly made, with many practical features, numerous compartments, and an excellent MOLLE system. Cordura 500 really does the job. If I come across a sale, I will gladly buy another model from the same brand. I definitely recommend it; there is really nothing to hesitate about.

This is already my third Sparrow — I have the Egg model, the 303, and now also this 20-litre one. Each of them is very successful, and the 20 l version works great in the city and during one-day trips outdoors. It easily fits the most essential items, such as a rain jacket or poncho, a small stove, a cup, a water canteen, some freeze-dried food, or an EDC kit. It is suitable for cycling, walking, and basically anywhere someone wants to take it. It works excellently where the 303 model is already too large and there is no need to carry more gear.
-
A really very good backpack. I previously had the 30-litre version, but for everyday use it was a bit too large and looked somewhat baggy because of that. The 20-litre version works much better.
-
The olive colour looks great and the backpack is very sturdy. After I bought it, I filled it with various things so it would form properly. I was undecided about the capacity – 20 or 30 litres – but that doesn’t matter anymore, because I’ll buy my next backpack from Wisport anyway.
-
The backpack made a great first impression on me. It seems to be a solid and durable product. It is very spacious, even though it is not too large, and at the same time, it is very comfortable.
-
I was looking for an upgrade to my daily bag that was a bit too small. Decided to splash out on this bag. So glad I chose this one, very well made, great assortment of pockets and straps to make it really versatile. It’s perfect for what I need, highly recommend it.
-
I used this backpack for almost two years – I only changed it because the 20-litre capacity was a bit too small for me. The quality of the backpack itself is great: it’s durable, comfortable, and perfect for day trips or everyday use. If 20 litres is the right capacity for you and you don’t need side pockets, for example for a water bottle, I would choose the Sparrow without hesitation. Alternatively, you could consider the 30-litre version or the Sparrow 303 model, which I haven’t tested yet, but it looks excellent at first glance. The main reason I changed my backpack was the lack of side pockets for a bottle.
-
I already have the Sparrow 16 and 30, so I know they're good rucksacks. I got the 20 because it maximises the smaller Easyjet cabin allowance, and because I can easily expand it with molle pouches and luggage straps at the top and/or bottom. The build quality is excellent, with lots of elements for storage of smaller EDC items. The material is pretty tough, so the rucksack will last a long time. It's not cheap, but quality never is.

Wisport Sparrow II 20L is a backpack with compact dimensions and a solid build. It is light and offers practical pockets for the most necessary items. High-quality materials and strong stitching ensure long-lasting use. Ergonomic straps and carrying system guarantee comfort even when fully loaded.
-
A very good backpack in every respect, although for me the downside is the weight – the sturdy Cordura is heavy, so I do feel the weight a bit during everyday work, especially towards the end of the day. Apart from that, the workmanship is of a high standard.
-
This is a fantastic, spacious, comfortable, and as always very durable backpack. Wisport once again lived up to expectations; every function is well thought out, especially compared to the previous version. I recommend it to everyone – brilliant kit.
-
I bought the backpack in July 2021 and have been using it almost every day. It is very solid. After washing, the molle straps got slightly damaged, so I washed it in a protective cover next time. I also noticed the price went up a lot – four years ago, I paid 299 PLN.
