At first, I used a Petzel headlamp, but unfortunately its batteries leaked. Now I have a Princeton and I can compare – in my opinion, this one is better, fits better and has a red light. I can recommend it to those who are undecided.
Princeton Tec Fred Tan head flashlight - 200 lumens
Head torch with a maximum power of 200 lumens. Designed with mobility and ease of use in mind in all conditions. Compact dimensions facilitate its transport and storage, while the lightweight reduces fatigue during prolonged wear.
Elastic band adjusts to the shape of the head, ensuring stability even during dynamic movements. The entire construction is conducive to use both outdoors and during everyday activities that require free hands.
Solid construction with weather protection
Housing made of durable composite effectively protects the components from mechanical damage and external factors. IPX4 waterproof rating guarantees resistance to splashes from any direction, allowing for safe use during rainfall or in humid environments.
4 LEDs, white and red light
System with 4 Ultrabright LED provides optimal balance between brightness and energy consumption. Three emitters produce a wide, even beam of white light, well illuminating the workplace and surroundings. The fourth LED is responsible for red light, useful in situations requiring discretion or maintaining night vision adaptation. This solution increases usefulness and allows for adjusting the work mode to current needs.
White light:
- High - 200 lumens / 5.5 h / 21 m
- Low - 30 lumens / 41 h / 9 m
Red light:
- High - 12 lumens / 12 h / 5 m
- Low - 1.5 lumens / 130 h / 1 m
Adjustable angle of tilt - precise light direction setting
Adjustment mechanism allows to adapt the head position to current needs without changing body position. Large control button enables easy operation even with gloves, which is particularly important in demanding conditions. Thoughtful access to the power supply compartment speeds up battery replacement and reduces downtime during work.
Compatibility with MOLLE/PALS system and adjustable band
The torch can be worn both on the head and on accoutrement elements. Adjustable band allows precise fit to the head circumference, ensuring stability and comfort even during intensive movement. The material does not cause pressure and keeps the torch in place for an extended period of use.
Compatibility with MOLLE/PALS systems allows mounting on backpacks, tactical vests or belts, increasing versatility and facilitating equipment organisation in the field.
Powered by 3x AAA or NiMH/NiCd batteries
The model is compatible with popular AAA batteries, which are included, as well as with batteries suitable for repeated charging. The user can choose the power source depending on availability and planned working time. Using batteries allows for reducing operating costs and increases independence during longer trips.

MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a system for attachment of tactical equipment, used for example in backpacks or tactical vests. It provides the possibility of flexible and modular placement of various accessories and pockets, which allows personalization and optimal adjustment of the item to the specific needs of the user. It is widely used by the military, special services and survival and outdoor enthusiasts.
PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) is a modular mounting system for pockets and pouches, used in the MOLLE system. It consists of horizontally sewn rows of 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, fixed spacing webbing (such as on a backpack) and vertical webbing for attachment and threading (on a pocket). This system is usually equipped with snaps, which further secures the pinned items.

A very good tactical torch, ideal for discreet use. It starts in red mode with the lowest power, and by holding the button for longer, you can switch to white mode, which works brilliantly. This is exactly the kind of kit I needed. The build quality is flawless. I haven't tested its waterproofness yet. The price is high, but it's definitely worth it.

I have been using this headlamp for a long time and it has never let me down. The ability to turn on the red light first is very useful, especially when you want to remain unnoticed.
