Silky Bigboy 360-7 Folding Saw - Red

The folding hand saw from the renowned Japanese brand Silky in red is designed for precise wood cutting. It features a blade made of high-carbon SK-4 steel and an elongated ergonomic handle with a non-slip coating. Intended for gardening tasks and outdoor forest use.

SK-4 carbon steel, chrome-plated blade, locking mechanism

The 360 mm blade with large teeth (7 teeth per 30 mm) allows for efficient cutting of larger pieces of wood. The blade is made of solid SK-4 carbon steel, which is resistant to cracking and chipping. A chrome coating protects the surface from moisture and corrosion, resulting in increased durability. The integrated locking mechanism allows the blade to be set in one of two positions, improving safety during use and transport.

Handle made of rubber-coated material, hole for a lanyard

The two-handed handle in red is ergonomically shaped and made of durable rubberized material. It ensures good grip and effectively reduces vibrations during cutting. A hole at the end of the handle allows you to attach a safety cord or lanyard.

Silky

MILITARY is a premium dealer of Silky.

Silky is a Japanese manufacturer of hand saws with a long tradition, dating back to 1919, when Katsuji Miyawaki founded the company in the city of Ono. For over a century, the brand has gained a reputation for reliability and precision, and its tools are distinguished by their exceptional quality. The saws are made of the highest quality steel and undergo impulse hardening technology, which, combined with a design intended for ‘pull’ cutting, ensures smooth operation and precise, clean cuts. In 1980, Silky patented its own saw setting process, which significantly increases the sharpness of the tools – this solution has been used in the 4-Retsume and Miraime2 models, among others. The Japanese manufacturer's solutions are used by professionals around the world: arborists, foresters, carpenters and bushcraft enthusiasts. It is worth mentioning that in 1985, the ‘Gomboy’ model was the first on the market to feature a rubber-coated handle, which contributed to it winning the prestigious Japanese Good Design Award. Thanks to the combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern technological solutions, Silky has been one of the leading manufacturers of hand saws for years.

For almost 20 years I used folding saws from the supermarket and was satisfied. However, after comparing with the Silky Bigboy 360-7, I noticed that it can be much better. The long blade, large and sparsely spaced teeth make a difference. The metal frame along the entire length increases durability, and the rubber handle is very comfortable and sits well in the hand. Admittedly, it costs as much as 10 supermarket saws, but personally I'd rather have one Bigboy than ten cheaper models.

The saw is amazing – it cuts just as well as a petrol one and its workmanship is top-notch, you can feel the high quality. It's quite large, but that translates into excellent efficiency.

A true queen among saws. You cut by pulling the saw towards you. Before you tire yourself out, a trunk as thick as your thigh is already cut through. Fantastic at cutting thicker trees, best from several sides. I miss a sheath in the set. Nevertheless, I give it five stars and a big plus.

Fantastic! The saw is very solid and durable – it really encourages you to work. It is quite large, so it cuts large pieces of wood with no problem. Cutting with it is sheer pleasure – it's quick and smooth. Highly recommended.

This is a saw that's hard to match. It's not small, but also not too big – it allows you to easily cut fairly large pieces of wood. Working with it is a pleasure. The best recommendation is that I have three more Silky saws in different sizes, as this is truly top-quality gear.

The saw is very durable and solidly made. Working with it is pure pleasure. It is light for its size, and yet extremely strong and durable – it's hard to damage. Cuts very efficiently and quickly.

In a word – wonderful! I do not agree with opinions that it is not suitable for felling trees – I have used it to cut down dozens of trees on my plot. Of course, it's for trees up to about 50 cm in circumference; we won't cut down a century-old oak with it. Ideal for thicker branches, preparing firewood, garden work and many other uses. When cutting close to the ground, you can set a slight offset so that your hand doesn't hit the ground. Unfortunately, the blade mounting screw can come loose; I had to replace it once. Despite this small flaw, I am still very impressed with this tool.

Very good saw. Of course, it's not for cutting large trees, but it handles smaller tasks excellently. It has a nice matte colour and a strap which prevents it from slipping out of your hand, making it great for bushcraft and survival. I’ve also bought a sturdy case for mine, which protects the saw and keeps the contents of my backpack safe. Additionally, the saw has a button lock, which makes opening and closing it safely much easier. It cuts well in both directions.

Great saw. Of course, you won't cut large trees with it, but for smaller jobs it works perfectly. It has a nice matte colour and a strap to prevent it from slipping out of your hand – making it a proper tool for bushcraft and survival. I also have a solid sheath which protects both the saw and my belongings in the backpack. The extra safety button preventing accidental opening and closing is very practical. Cuts well in both directions.

With this saw I cut through a log as thick as an adult man's thigh – it was very wet after long rains. Maybe it didn’t take just a second, but the cutting was really quick. The saw handles steadily during work. The cut surface is perfectly smooth, as if sanded. The price-to-quality ratio is very favourable.

Working with this saw is pure pleasure. It is light for its size, but at the same time solid enough that it is hard to damage. The prints on the blade look impressive and show the high class of the tool. In my opinion, it's a fantastic saw – despite its considerable size it fits in a backpack and copes easily with thicker logs.

A very solid and durable saw. Cuts exceptionally efficiently and quickly. I appreciate the Japanese quality. A sheath would be useful, but even without it I rate it five stars plus. The rubber handle fits perfectly in the hand, whether held with one or both hands. The blade is flexible but within reason – there is no risk of it breaking easily. The price is not the lowest, but quality matters – I chose it and I am very satisfied.

My first impressions of the saw are very good. Solid construction, comfortable handle, large teeth, quite a stiff blade for its thickness, two ways of locking the blade during cutting. A minor issue is that you have to be careful when folding – the blade can hit the handle instead of slotting into the gap, but that’s just a matter of getting used to it. Now I just have to test it out in the field, but I’m very optimistic.

The saw cuts through branches very efficiently – you can cut thinner ones in just a few seconds and strokes. I easily cut about 10 pieces, as shown in the photo, which was enough to keep the campfire burning all night, and the warmth spread out nicely. Camping comfort has improved significantly.

The saw is outstanding. High quality workmanship and great materials. It's definitely the best saw I have had so far. Thanks to the blade length, you can cut even large pieces of wood with it.
