Savotta FDF Sleeping Pad Folding Mat

Foldable sleeping mat measuring 210 x 100 cm, developed for the Finnish Armed Forces in the 1980s. Its construction is based on a solid 12 mm thick foam core, which effectively insulates from cold ground. Additional side protective panels widen the usable area, increasing comfort during rest.

The model features a R-Value 2 thermal insulation rating, determined in accordance with the ASTM F3340-18 standard. This parameter defines the degree of insulation from the ground - the higher the value, the more effective the reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of the R-Value used in the outdoor industry:

• 1.0-2.0 - use in summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 degrees Celsius),
• 2.1-3.5 - use in spring, summer, and autumn (approx. 0-10 degrees Celsius),
• 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 degrees Celsius and sub-zero temperatures down to approx. -5 /-10 degrees Celsius,
• 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius,
• above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleep system (sleeping bag, clothing), the type of ground, and the user's individual resistance to cold.

Durable 210D polyamide with a polyurethane finish was used in production and is characterised by high abrasion resistance. The bottom section is made of 600D polyester, enhanced with a rubber coating that provides anti-slip properties and effectively protects against moisture. The central part of the mat is a 190 x 50 cm core made of soft foam with a thickness of 12 mm. On the sides there are additional fabric panels 25 cm wide, which increase the usable area. The product has an R-Value insulation rating of 2.

Thanks to its roll-up construction, the mat takes up little space when packed, making it easy to transport. The set includes elastic straps to secure the rolled mat during carrying.
