Savotta FDF Sleeping Pad Folding Mat

Folding sleeping mat of 210 x 100 cm, developed for the Finnish Armed Forces in the 1980s. Its construction is based on a solid foam core with a thickness of 12 mm, which effectively insulates against the cold ground. Additional side straps expand the usable zone, increasing comfort while resting.

The model features a thermal insulation coefficient R-Value 2, determined in accordance with ASTM F3340-18. This parameter defines the level of insulation from the ground - the higher the value, the more effective the reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of R-Value used in the outdoor industry:

• 1.0-2.0 - use in summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 st. C),
• 2.1-3.5 - spring-summer-autumn use (approx. 0-10 st. C),
• 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 st. C and sub-zero temperatures down to approx. -5 /-10 st. C,
• 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 st. C,
• above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleep system (sleeping bag, clothing), ground type and the individual user's resistance to cold.

Durable 210D polyamide with polyurethane finish, which features high abrasion resistance, was used in the production. The bottom part is made of 600D polyester, enriched with a rubber coating, giving anti-slip properties and effectively protecting against moisture. The central part of the mat is a 190 x 50 cm core, made of 12 mm thick soft foam. On the sides there are additional fabric panels with a width of 25 cm, which increase the working surface. The product has an R-Value insulation coefficient of 2.

Thanks to its rolled-up design, the mat takes up little space when packed, making it easy to transport. The set includes elastic straps for securing the rolled up mat when carrying it.
