It’s good to keep it in your backpack as an emergency hooded jacket that provides a bit of warmth, protects you from the rain, and makes you visible from a distance. I haven’t tested it in the rain yet, but it seems that this kind of material shouldn’t soak through. The downside is that it rustles quite a lot.

I bought the NRC Mil-Tec Survival - Silver foil for my husband for the front line back in 2023, to use it under the Helikon Swagman Roll Basic poncho - Olive Green. Since then, it has been used many times in conditions where there was no chance for an additional heat source. It doesn't take up space in the backpack nor increases its weight, which is crucial for soldiers. I honestly recommend it! I give 3 stars, because I haven't tested it in the rain yet, so I don't know if it's waterproof, but I believe it will be fine. The material is very thin and seems as if it could tear easily. It rustles a lot, which makes it harder to talk to someone walking beside you. The poncho is short – I'm 180 cm tall and it barely covers my buttocks, so in case of rain, my underwear and legs will probably get wet.

Brilliant product. Far more comfortable than regular thermal blankets. Perfectly replaces a heavy poncho. I definitely recommend having it in your basic kit.

The product is as described, I haven't used it yet. I put it in my evacuation backpack. I hope it won't be needed.

A good alternative to a heavy poncho, it's worth having even if rain isn't forecast – if it does rain, it will work without a problem.

Good product, much more practical than standard 'blankets', although they also have their uses, especially when covering another person. I recommend it. Works great on every trip, as long as you don't need to hide. It's one of those items that you should have in your basic equipment.

2-in-1 functionality: can be used as protection against hypothermia if needed and as a rain cover. Highly recommended.
