Maskpol Rock One Plate Carrier - MAPA
Plate Carrier tactical vest in MAPA camouflage with ROC 40 and ROC 80 type quick release buckles. Made of durable 560 Cordura laminate. Adapted to carry soft and hard SAPI type ballistic cartridges in S, M and L sizes.
The full-surface laser-cut MOLLE system allows to conveniently mount the equipment according to the user's individual needs and preferences. Personalization of the vest by attaching any emblems to it is made possible by a velcro panel located at chest level.
It is equipped with comfortpads, inner panels made of profiled spacer foam, which improve air circulation and adjustable, replaceable cummerbunds. In addition, in the center of the cover there are straps, so-called elevators, that stably hold plates of different sizes inside the vest.
The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools of military camouflage design (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of terrain photographs, has attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of armor and uniforms from Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armament Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the camouflage pattern wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
The most important features of MAPA camouflage in basic forest variant:
- 6 colors forming layers resembling horizontals on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- the use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette by means of a macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early fall.
