Maskpol Plate Carrier with Zip-On TMP-02 Backpack - MAPA
TMP-02 Plate Carrier tactical vest with a functional Zip-On backpack. It is made in MAPA camouflage from durable Cordura 770 and is designed to carry SAPI type hard ballistic inserts in sizes S, M, L. It will prove perfect for use by the military and other uniformed services, and will also be appreciated by advanced ASG players.
The front and back of the vest have been trimmed with MOLLE/Pals system mounting tapes, which allow for the arrangement of pouches and carriers according to the user's preferences. Side cummerbund modules with adjustable circumference have also been covered with MOLLE/Pals tapes.
The TMP-02 vest uses heavy-duty ROC 40 and ROC 80 type quick release buckles. A velcro panel has been placed on the front of the vest at chest level, which allows attaching any emblems, such as distinctions, national flag, unit emblem or so-called Morale Patches.
The comfortpads located on the shoulders are equipped with a mesh spacer to ensure adequate comfort and ventilation. Thanks to additional straps it is possible to attach cabling.
The set includes a backpack equipped with a quick-mount system, attached to the vest with MOLLE webbing and two zippers. Additional velcro panels and MOLLE webbing allow the backpack to be used as a standalone storage or pouch.
The MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and currently a researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, author of, among other publications, Theory of Deconstruction of Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage (Gdansk 2015). The innovative design, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, attracted the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader system of accouterment and uniforms by Maskpol, which is part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was created for soldiers of the Territorial Defense Army, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a perspective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace camouflage wz.93. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not been implemented as an official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army to date.
The most important features of MAPA camouflage in the basic forest variant:
- 6 colors forming layers resembling levels on a map,
- colors optimized for operations in the forests of Central Europe,
- use of the illusion of three-dimensionality and anamorphosis effect,
- biomorphic shapes making the design similar to vegetation,
- strongly contrasting elements imitating flashes of light and shadows,
- deformation of the masked silhouette using macro pattern,
- color noise reproduced by means of a micro pattern.
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn or Finnish M/05. In some respects it is more advanced than them, and better reproduces the colors found in Central European forests in the period from later spring to early autumn.
