The sweatshirt is designed on the model of the Ukrainian army's full-time uniform sweatshirt. It was made from a material that is a combination of cotton and polyester. The material is lightweight and dries faster than 100% cotton. The model uses Rip-Stop weave, which significantly increases the resistance of the material to tears.
There are 5 velcro (Velcro) panels sewn on the sweatshirt, which allow attaching any emblems, such as distinction, national flag, unit emblem or so-called Morale Patches.
The name MM-14 is an abbreviation for маскувальний малюнок (maskuvalʹnyy malyunok = camouflage pattern) and the year 2014, when the camouflage was officially approved. The pattern refers to the American UCP camouflage, but shades were chosen to match the colors naturally found on Ukrainian territory. The introduction of the MM-14 camouflage pattern was an important part of the Ukrainian army's reform to break with post-Soviet identification. Unofficially, MM14 camouflage also goes by the names Ukrainian Pixel Camo and Ukrainian Digital Camo.
