Bushnell Forge 8x42 Terrain Binoculars
The Forge series presents a binocular with 8x fixed magnification and a 42 mm objective lens. The optical system is based on Roof-type roof prisms. This solution has enabled the construction of a compact and user-friendly design.
BaK-4 prisms, anti-reflective coatings
The prisms used in the binoculars are made from high-quality BaK-4 optical glass. They are coated with modern PC-3 Phase Coating, which mitigates losses caused by the phase shift of light waves, and DPC (Dielectric Prism Coating), which enhances colour reproduction, resolution, and contrast.
The lenses are made from special ED glass (Extra-low Dispersion), characterised by a low light dispersion coefficient, resulting in above-average image resolution and contrast, and almost complete elimination of chromatic aberration. All air-glass boundaries are coated with multiple layers of FMC anti-reflective coatings (Fully Multi-Coated), minimising unwanted reflections and light losses in the optical system.
IPX7 water resistance rating, EXO Protection coating
The advanced EXO Protection coating prevents the deposition of water droplets and dust and is scratch-resistant, making observations easier even on rainy days. This technology also prevents the condensation of breath vapor.
The product meets the IPX7 water resistance standard, meaning it can be submerged in water up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes.

DPC - Dielectric Prism Coating
DPC (Dielectric Prism Coating) is an advanced dielectric optical coating applied to roof prisms in Bushnell devices. The use of this multi-layer coating increases the reflectivity inside the prism to more than 99%, resulting in better light transmission, higher image brightness and more faithful color reproduction.
ED Lenses
ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses are optical elements made of low-dispersion glass, used in high-end optical devices. Their main function is to reduce chromatic aberration, which is the splitting of light manifested by colored borders around contrasting objects. With ED lenses, the image is clearer, sharper and has better color reproduction - especially at the edges of the field of view and when observing high-contrast objects.
EXO Barrier
EXO Barrier is the latest generation of protective coating developed by Bushnell, applied to the outer surfaces of lenses. It forms a microscopic, durable layer that resists water, dust, oil, fingerprints and other contaminants. Water droplets run off immediately and dirt does not adhere to the glass, ensuring maximum image clarity in all conditions. The EXO Barrier coating is permanently bonded to the surface of the optics, resistant to abrasion and effective for the life of the device.

The binoculars received high ratings on the optyczne.pl website. It is a successful model, primarily in terms of optical parameters, which are crucial for such devices. I was going to mention its weight, but anyone familiar with the subject knows that a good optical device must be heavy because it needs solid glass and large prisms for a complete image, as well as a complicated lens system. And that's exactly what these Bushnell binoculars are – outstanding!
