The down jacket is an invention from 1922, when George Finch, dressed just in a down jacket, attempted to summit Mount Everest. Thanks to major clothing chains and fashion houses, the appearance of winter down jackets could be seen not only on the slopes, but also on the street. Down jackets from the end of the last century began to be designed and manufactured using modern technologies, which definitely made them more lightweight. Women's lightweight down jackets from now on had a cutout at the waist, so ladies wearing them could better adjust the garment to their figure. The warmth and thermal comfort provided by down jackets then became synonymous with elegance and ceased to resemble clothing for Himalayans.

The most important thing in this type of clothing is the right filling. Most often feathers or duck down are used. In more expensive jackets there is often a mixture of goose and duck feathers, and in the most expensive - only goose. Natural materials give the most warmth, insulating our body from the environment. They are lightweight, durable and provide high comfort. Some winter down jackets also have synthetic down. The appearance of women's lightweight down jackets produced these days does not give the impression of being inflated, as older garments from the last century did. Thick clothing can indeed add a few centimeters, but it is the proportions, not the girth itself, that matters most in the perception of your figure. The right choice of women's lightweight down jacket should not optically widen your dimensions, especially if you choose the right cut.
