Zippo is a symbol of American style and reliability, present on the market since 1933, when George G. Blaisdell designed the first windproof lighter that could be operated with one hand. Since then, over 600 million units have been produced, each covered by a lifetime warranty: “It works or we fix it free.” During World War II, the entire production line was dedicated exclusively to the US Army, which contributed to the global recognition of the brand. Zippo has become a permanent part of pop culture, appearing in over 2,000 film and television productions, such as Die Hard, X-Men, and Hairspray. The distinctive sound of the lighter being opened was registered as a trademark in 2018. In 2007, the company presented a modern approach by introducing the Zippo Blu line of butane-powered lighters, while retaining the classic design and sound of the original models.
