I had used the previous edition of Salomon Quest boots and after damaging the sole (my own fault), I decided to buy this model again. Unfortunately, this version turned out to be worse than the previous one. Above all, the sole is stiffer and less comfortable, it is starting to come away from the boot, a crack and a hole have appeared where it meets the leather, and the boots get wet relatively quickly.
Salomon Quest 4D MID GTX Forces 2 EN Boots - Black
Black tactical boots designed with a lightweight yet durable construction in mind. Thanks to the use of a breathable Gore-Tex membrane, the footwear effectively protects against water while allowing moisture to escape. The 4D Advanced Chassis system supports foot stability even on uneven ground, reducing fatigue during long hikes. This model is ideal for everyday uniform service as well as urban and off-road use.
Contagrip sole, Protective Rubber Toe Cap
The durable Contagrip sole exhibits resistance to punctures, oily substances and provides protection against electrostatic discharge. In addition, the Protective Rubber Toe Cap protects the foot from impacts and minimises the risk of injury from tripping.
The midsole layer is made of Energycell+ foam which is distinguished by its high resilience. This allows for partial energy release from the impact of the foot on the ground, improving dynamics and striking efficiency. Comfort is enhanced by the breathable OrthoLite insole, which has antibacterial properties and provides additional cushioning and support for the natural structure of the foot.
Waterproof membrane, SensiFit leather
The upper is made of abrasion-resistant and anti-reflective Cordura, which increases the durability of the footwear and ensures better concealability. Additional protection is provided by the SensiFit leather stabiliser, which wraps around the foot, increasing support and fit. Waterproofing and optimal breathability are provided by the Gore-Tex membrane, which effectively protects against water from the outside while allowing moisture to escape from inside the boot.
Quick lacing
The lacing system based on metal grommets allows for quick and convenient fastening of the boots. Excess laces can be tucked into a mesh pocket located on the tongue. A loop at the back of the upper makes it easier to put the boots on.

After about three months of use, the rubber on the heel of the left shoe split, and after a month the same thing happened with the right one. With every step, the shoes make an unusual noise, which is very annoying. At this price (1199 zł) such situations should not occur. Despite this, I am satisfied with the usage – I walked 25-30 km with a load, no chafing on my feet. The footwear used 6 days a week for 9-14 hours in tough mountain conditions.

The shoes get soaked after four hours of working in the field on wet grass, and after two months of use, the sole started to come off. I absolutely do not recommend them – I regret the purchase and advise choosing something else.

I don't understand where the negative opinions about these shoes come from. I've been wearing them for 7 months now and I've never had better. It's true that the sole is soft and has worn slightly on the tarmac, but the fine tread is still enough for a very long time. Nothing has torn or cracked. I clean them regularly, wash the inside and treat the leather with proper products. Recently, I spent two weeks in mud and water – my feet were always dry. I highly recommend them – with the right care, they'll last for years.

I think these are some of the best shoes – a great combination of sports and military footwear. They perform well in various conditions: summer, autumn, winter, on sand, mud and snow. However, they have a flaw typical of Salomon shoes: the soles and toes come away from the rest of the shoe quite easily.

In my opinion, these are the best shoes for long marches – a combination of sports and military footwear, very comfortable, stable, with a good sole. They adjust quickly to the foot and don't require a long break-in period. They perform well in summer, autumn and winter, in various conditions: snow, sand, mud. Unfortunately, like other Salomon models, they share a common flaw – shoe elements, like the sole or toe cap, can come apart fairly quickly. It's a pity they didn't focus on greater durability at this price, as the shoes are not durable enough.

The shoes are solid, durable and stable. Unfortunately, they're too warm for me – after a whole day, my feet are damp and slightly chafed, even though it wasn't hot outside.

Overall, I recommend these shoes. I have used them in both the Tatra and Bieszczady mountains, testing them in difficult conditions. The advantage is that they didn't rub my feet and are relatively comfortable. The only minor issue is some glue coming off slightly at the toe after heavy use, but it's a small problem and can be fixed. I definitely recommend them.

I strongly do not recommend these shoes. After two weeks of use, they started to come apart at the rand on the toes. After repair and a longer break, they fell apart again during work. Discolouration of the leather appears quickly even with care, and the material is easy to damage mechanically. I was a Salomon fan, but this model disappointed me. I only give two stars for comfort.

The boots are excellent. They are very stiff, which ensures exceptional protection for the foot and ankle during mountain walks. Once laced, they feel as if they are made of concrete – but they are not heavy, just provide solid leg protection. The tread is outstanding, gripping even on ice – when others struggled, I walked calmly. The look is another advantage of these boots. After two years of use, from November to March, I've noticed no issues whatsoever. The comfort is very high for this class of footwear.

After two weeks of daily use in mud and at the shooting range, my feet remain dry, with no chafing. After washing and drying, the shoes look like new. After five months, there are no signs of wear. The shoes provide good grip on clay terrain. Several friends have been using them for over a year and everyone is satisfied.

I've been using these shoes for almost a year, and after a few months, they started to come apart where the rubber is on the toe. Lately, I've noticed the sole is also starting to separate. I think it's a flaw in this model. Other than that, in terms of comfort and stability – they're great: they're comfortable, stable, wick away moisture well and are waterproof. If it weren't for the gluing issue, I'd definitely buy them again.

I bought these shoes before going on a mission. After three months, the rubber on the heel cracked, making them unusable, as they made strange noises with every step. My friend who bought the same model in another shop had the same problem, so it must be a design flaw. Shoes at this price shouldn't break down so quickly. Luckily, I had a spare pair because otherwise, I would have had to glue them and lose the warranty. Now I have to make a complaint and I am very disappointed with Salomon.

Right after purchase, I rate these shoes a 5. My feet don't sweat, even though at first I thought it would be different, as they are bulkier than they look. The insole is comfortable, but the laces seem a bit too long for this upper – that's the only minus I notice. I plan to test them longer and share more feedback later.

Inside the shoe, on the inner side, there is a stiff, vertical seam that supports the ankle. Does no one really mind this? I bought this model, but I have considerable concerns because of it. During several hours of wearing them at home, the seam caused me constant discomfort and pressure on the ankle. In my opinion, this is a serious mistake by Salomon and a flaw of this model. The QUEST 4 GORE-TEX version for everyday use doesn’t have such a seam and I am considering an exchange. Another downside of these boots is the lack of a pocket for the protruding laces and a less attractive appearance.
