Opinel is a French brand with a rich history dating back to 1890, originating from the Savoie region. Its creator, Joseph Opinel, designed the first pocket knife, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the company developed the Virobloc locking mechanism – later modernised – which remains a characteristic feature of its products to this day. In 1985, the brand was recognised by the Victoria and Albert Museum, which included one of Opinel's models in its list of the 100 best-designed objects in the world. The company's products have also entered the collection of MoMA in New York. Production is carried out in Chambery with care for the environment – wood is sourced from French forests, and the resulting waste is used to heat the production facilities. The range includes folding tools, kitchen utensils, cutlery and sharpening stones, which have become synonymous with durability, simplicity and the French way of life.

    Exceptional oil of very good quality. It's advisable to oil the blade from time to time to prevent residue buildup. The effect is immediate after application – the blade becomes shiny and has a nicer colour.

    I recommend this oil. I have both production knives and those made by Polish craftsmen, for example from the company Rato. The oil perfectly protects the blades and is available in a practical, small package.

    The oil protects my knives perfectly. Carbon steel blades are properly shielded, and additionally the product can safely come into contact with food. However, you should be careful with the packaging when transporting it in a backpack, as it is made of thin metal and can be easily squashed.
