Mil-Tec Watch Army Vintage ME 109

In my opinion this watch is stunning, vintage-style and collectible. The photos don’t do it justice: a solid construction and a durable strap made from thick leather. This is a model inspired by the watches worn by Luftwaffe pilots, including those from the Messerschmitt Bf 109. The movement works thanks to a silver battery, which drives the quartz crystal and ensures high accuracy. During the Second World War such a watch was a sensation. It’s great to own such an item even now – it attracts attention from both watch enthusiasts and others.

This watch didn't impress me. I was actually disappointed by the very convex glass, which sticks out above the case by half a centimetre and looks like a magnifying glass. The strap is quite stiff, although it will probably soften over time. One plus is the battery lock. The clasp is described as solid, but in my opinion the pin is weak. The watch does look interesting on the wrist, but such a big protruding glass really bothers me – I consider it a serious flaw.

The watch looks even better in real life than in the photos; the dial and metal case have been given an aged effect, which makes it more attractive. The glass is convex, just like in vintage watches, and it comes with a thick leather strap with a sturdy clasp. The hands glow in the dark, making it easy to check the time at night (the glow fades in the early morning, but the watch remains readable). At first the strap is stiff, but over time it becomes more flexible and fits the wrist better. People with slim wrists may need an extra hole in the strap, which a watchmaker can make. All in all, a great watch – definitely worth it for this price.

My review concerns the appearance and operation of the watch – for this category I give a top rating. The watch is very well made. I probably won’t wear it with a suit, but it goes great with a military-style outfit. After some time I intend to add an opinion regarding its durability and any possible issues.

The watch is very comfortable to use, durable and at the same time elegant – suitable for sport, with a suit, as well as for mountain hikes, which I have tested myself. The dial is easy to read, which people with poor eyesight will appreciate. I have used it for two years now, recently changed the battery, but the watchmaker pointed out that the movement is not very durable for this price and can be easily flooded (in my case), so I think the price is a bit too high – hence my rating of 4.1. A simple watch that is perfect for outdoor use. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a sapphire crystal.

The watch looks better in real life than in the photos. It catches other people’s eye – many ask where I got it, highlighting its classic look. It suits both sporty, casual and elegant outfits.
