My wife is satisfied, which is key for me. Maybe I'll finally manage to encourage her to try more military styles. She says the jacket is comfortable and keeps her warm, so everyone is happy.
Maskpol Softshell SMD-01 Women's Sweatshirt - MAPA
Women's tactical softshell sweatshirt with inserts of uniform material in MAPA camouflage. It will prove useful for survival, hiking, ASG and recreational outdoor activities. Thanks to its multilayer construction, the sweatshirt effectively protects against wind and rain, eliminating the need for additional warming clothing.
Three-layer construction, reinforced with US-23 material
The softshell is made from a three-layer polyester laminate:
- outer waterproofed fabric, weather resistant
- middle PTFE Teflon membrane
- inner fleece lining.
The collar, the inside of the hood, the pockets and the sleeves are reinforced with US-23 uniform fabric, which is a durable 50/50 combination of soft cotton and polyester. The Rip-Stop weave material is tough and resistant to abrasion and tears.
One-way zip, ventilation openings
The entire garment fastens with a robust one-way zip. The high zip is part of the hood with a drawstring, which further protects the head from the cold and wind. Ventilation holes are placed under the armpits for better thermal comfort . The cuffs are trimmed with elasticated piping and the lower waistband has an elasticated drawstring with a stopper to allow for a snug fit and to prevent puffing.
Two classic pockets
The model includes 2 classic side pockets closed with zips. The interior of the pockets is finished with breathable mesh.
Velcro panels
There are 2 large velcro panels on the sleeves for attaching any emblems such as insignia, national flags, unit emblems or so-called Morale Patches. On the right breast there is Velcro for a name tag.

MAPA camouflage
MAPA camouflage pattern was designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and current research fellow at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and author of, among other works, the publication “Theory of Deconstruction of the Visual Communication. Tools for designing military camouflage” (Gdańsk 2015). This innovative design, backed by compelling theoretical and empirical arguments, including a computer analysis of thousands of photographs of the terrain, has caught the attention of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. In 2017, the MAPA camouflage made its debut at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce as the camouflage pattern for the Dromader accouterments and uniform system by Maskpol, a company part of the Polish Armaments Group. The system was designed for Territorial Defense Force soldiers, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a prospective pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the wz.93 camouflage. Unfortunately, the MAPA camouflage has not yet been adopted as the official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army.
Main features of the MAPA camouflage in its basic forest variant:
- 6 colors forming layers resembling contour lines on a map
- colors optimized for operations in Central European forests
- use of three-dimensional illusions and anamorphic effects
- biomorphic shapes making the pattern resemble vegetation
- high-contrast elements imitating flashes of light and shadows
- deformation of the camouflaged silhouette using a macro-pattern
- color noise recreated using a micro-pattern
The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the best contemporary camouflage patterns such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, and the Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than these, and it also better replicates the colors found in Central European forests from late spring to early fall.
