Leatherman Rebar Burnt Sienna Multitool

A multitool containing 17 practical tools, including pliers with a replaceable wire cutter, a knife, a saw, and a file. It is a compact version of the SuperTool 300 model, retaining the concept as a tool for heavy-duty work and the key features of the original, with reduced dimensions of the plier arms and blades.

A suitable choice for those looking for a durable, handy model offering a wide range of functions for various applications. The tool is effective for everyday use, in the field, during camping, and in military service. The product comes with a 25-year warranty from the manufacturer.

high-quality materials, Bead Blast finish and Cerakote coating

The blades are made from 420HC stainless steel, hardened to 55-59 HRC. This material demonstrates corrosion resistance, high crack resistance, and ease of sharpening. The other tools are made from high-quality stainless steel. The tools have been finished using the Bead Blast method, giving them a uniformly matte, satin-grey appearance without light reflections.

The multitool frame is made of 420 stainless steel, valued for its excellent corrosion resistance and high impact resistance. The arms are coated with Cerakote in Burnt Sienna colour, characterised by resistance to impacts, chipping, abrasion, and effectively protecting the steel in challenging conditions.

420HC feature
420HC
420HC is a high-carbon version of 420 stainless steel, containing 0.4-0.5% carbon and 12-14% chromium. Thanks to its higher carbon content, it achieves higher hardness (55-57 HRC) and better cutting properties than standard 420 steel, making it ideal for the production of outdoor, hunting, and everyday knives. The steel is characterized by very good corrosion resistance, high fracture toughness, and ease of sharpening, which increases its versatility. It is a material with a favorable price-quality ratio, making it a popular choice for mid-range knives. With proper heat treatment, 420HC can achieve properties comparable to AUS6 steel, but at a more affordable price.
420 feature
420
420 is a martensitic stainless steel often used in cutlery, especially in kitchen knives, EDC, and budget outdoor models. It is characterized by a relatively low carbon content (0.16-0.25%), which allows for a hardness range of 54-57 HRC, ensuring easy sharpening and resistance to chipping. Chromium (12-14%) provides good corrosion resistance, making the steel suitable for use in humid conditions. Silicon and manganese additives (up to 1%) improve strength and hardenability, while low sulfur and phosphorus content reduce the brittleness of the material. 420 steel is valued for its high corrosion resistance, relatively high impact strength (resistance to cracks and chipping), and low processing costs. Thanks to its ease of machining and polishing, it is popular in the production of low- and mid-range knives.
Cerakote feature
Cerakote
Cerakote is an advanced ceramic-polymer coating applied to knife blades to increase their durability and give them a distinctive appearance. It forms a thin, opaque layer that does not alter the geometry or balance of the blade, while ensuring high durability. Its matte, non-reflective finish, available in a variety of colors, makes it a popular choice for tactical and outdoor knives. The coating is resistant to impact, chipping, and abrasion, effectively protecting the steel in demanding conditions. In corrosion tests (Salt Spray ASTM B-117), it retains its properties for thousands of hours, protecting the blade from rust and oxidation. It is also resistant to chemicals, including cleaning agents and solvents.
Bead Blast feature
Bead Blast
Bead Blast is a blade finishing technique that involves treating steel with a stream of fine ceramic or glass beads under high pressure. It gives the surface a uniform matte, satin-gray appearance without any light reflections. The surface obtained in the sandblasting process is smooth and aesthetic, but due to micro-pores, it may be slightly more susceptible to wear and corrosion if the blade is not properly protected. Nevertheless, Bead Blast is valued for its simplicity, discretion, and masking properties, which is why it is used in EDC, outdoor, and military knives.

Review summary

Automatically prepared based on reviews

The Leatherman Rebar is widely praised as a compact, sturdy and versatile multitool for everyday carry, home repairs, workshop use and outdoor tasks. Reviewers highlight its strong build quality, sharp tools, practical tool selection, useful pliers with replaceable wire cutters, locking tools, solid value for money and the added confidence of a 25-year warranty. Many also describe it as an excellent gift, especially with engraving. The most common drawbacks are stiff action out of the box, a break-in period, no spring-loaded pliers, no pocket clip and the need to open the tool fully to access some implements. On black or coated versions, some users also mention initial residue on the hands, scratches or minor signs of corrosion, while a few report play or defects in individual units.

The best Leatherman I’ve ever had. Much more robust than the Wave or Charge, it combines the robustness and rigidity of the SuperTool 300 in a compact body comparable to 91 mm Victorinox knives. The pliers are comparable to small Knipex pliers (0822145), but the Rebar has better wire cutters. The plain-edge blade is comparable in size to a 91 mm Victorinox, but it cuts much better (it has a hollow grind), and the cutting ergonomics are better too (on the Victorinox, the sharp edges of the aluminium liners between the tools, as well as the tools themselves, dig into your hand, whereas with the Rebar I’m holding a beautifully smooth, rounded handle. What’s more, unlike the 91 mm Victorinox, it has a lock. A chapter of its own is the brutally robust Phillips screwdriver, one of the best tools Leatherman has ever come up with (compared with the thin sheet-metal ones on other models), and you can fit a holder for full-size 1/4" bits onto it if that matters to you (personally, I prefer carrying a separate bit holder). Because of the black oxide finish, it’s really stiff straight out of the box, and the blackened surfaces on a new multitool really do rub off, but all you need to do is wash it with warm water and washing-up liquid, dry it, lubricate it (which any normal person would do with any other knife too, including Victorinox knives—I’m not a pig; I’m not going to slice salami with something that’s passed through the hands of 30 people at the factory), and then open and close it for a while once it’s lubricated. Within an hour it beds in and works beautifully. The price on military.eu is unbeatable compared with other shops. There’s no sheath included in the package (with a pocket tool this tiny, I don’t mind; nobody is going to carry something this small on a belt, though with a SuperTool 300 I probably would mind). There’s no “certificate of authenticity” sticker on the box, which in any case has nothing to do with Leatherman as a company—it’s an invention of a Czech reseller. Military.eu is a Polish shop, so it makes perfect sense that it isn’t there. But don’t worry: Leatherman’s 25-year warranty is valid worldwide regardless of some sticker invented by a Czech reseller.

Great equipment that performs its job very well and works well in most situations, both in the city and in the forest. I recommend it to anyone looking for something solid, high-quality, and durable.

Great product, as usual for this company. We bought it for a colleague's 50th birthday, who likes DIY, and it was a perfect choice. It's a very practical gadget that comes in handy for anyone who sometimes needs to quickly unscrew or screw something together. An additional advantage is the option of engraving, which makes it an even better gift idea.

Just what you’d expect from Leatherman. Top quality, versatile in use, and still small and compact. Well, brands like this simply stand the test of time. I can highly recommend it to anyone, especially for outdoor use.

An uncompromising, durable tool for those who need a reliable assistant in the field, garage, or on the road, rather than a flashy toy for opening beer in the office. It earns its price with reliability. I recommend it without hesitation.

Bought as a gift – the person who received it, who already has a Leatherman (Wingman model), is very pleased! Nice colour scheme, looks very stylish and modern. The number of functions is sufficient. At the promotional price, it was an excellent choice.

The Leatherman Rebar is a durable and trustworthy tool – I always carry it with me and it has already proven useful on many occasions. I recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to carry a full bag of tools.

I have this model and I bought the bit kit for it (I put it on the Phillips screwdriver). In this configuration, it’s probably the best option Leatherman offers – a saw, a file, a set of bits and pliers with a replaceable cutter is fantastic for me.

The multitool is solidly made, with no looseness; it operates quite stiffly and firmly, which in my opinion indicates durability. Ideal for everyday use, but it will also cope outdoors. The serrated blade and pliers are particularly useful.

This is another Leatherman I own after losing my previous one. It allowed me to check which tools I really need, so this time I chose the Rebar model – more basic and lighter. The new one meets all my expectations. In terms of quality, everything's fine, I noticed no faults. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

I debated for a long time between this model and the Wave Plus. The Rebar turned out to be more robust, with more practical tools. Fits very well in the hand. If you’re looking for a tool for work — choose the Rebar. If you care more about appearance and can sacrifice durability, then Wave Plus is better. Additionally, the sellers were very helpful and spoke English.

Excellent quality, very well-designed multitool, like all Leatherman products. Original and elegant colour. You can feel the durability of the design and good material quality. Big plus for the 25-year warranty.

A multitool of very high quality and excellent design, just like other Leatherman products. The unique colour scheme is an added bonus – the combination of coyote and black looks fantastic. Another big plus is the 25-year warranty.

I bought the tool almost two and a half years ago and it has been helpful many times, both for small repairs and larger renovations. It's compact, lightweight, well-made, and also has all the key features in my opinion. I definitely recommend it.
