Kel-Met Inox Chain Training Handcuffs

Kel-Met Inox training handcuffs with chain are a specialist model designed for training uniformed officers and security staff. By using a tang located next to the keyhole, they allow quick release of the lock without the need to use a key, enabling safe and efficient training in restraint, escort and release techniques. Their construction corresponds to standard operational handcuffs, allowing for a realistic reproduction of tactical situations while minimising the risk of injury and ensuring control over the course of exercises.

stainless steel construction

The product is made of stainless steel compliant with PN-EN 10088-1 standard. The material used shows no toxicity to the body, is resistant to mechanical damage, and does not cause allergic reactions. Handcuffs are free from galvanic coatings such as nickel or zinc, meeting the requirements of EU directive 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC concerning products in contact with the skin and national designed regulations.

Construction and operating mechanism

The set consists of two cuffs connected by a pancake type chain, mounted with rotational fasteners. The construction of the cuffs reduces the risk of abrasions and injuries when used correctly. A restrained person can easily release themselves by pulling the opening tang.

The cuffs are made as steel constructions with a double-lock mechanism and a movable cuff gear. Each cuff is equipped with a gear lock, which can be set to any position to prevent excessive tightening. Accidental release protection is activated by a tang.

Strength requirements

The handcuffs withstand the application of a static force:

  • breaking force of 2300 N - force applied in the plane of the clasp, with the other clasp fixed in the holder. Upon determining the force action, the handcuffs retain their usability.
  • bending the clasp with a force of 500 N - the clasp mounted in the holder on the side of the chain connecting the clasps, force applied perpendicularly to the plane of the clasp at its end opposite to the place of its attachment in the holder. The force does not lead to permanent deformation of the clasp.

Standards and certifications

Kel-Met handcuffs meet the following standards:

  • PN-EN 10088-1 - a standard concerning the properties of stainless steels, specifying their chemical composition and mechanical properties.
  • 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC - an EU directive limiting the use of heavy metals, such as nickel, in products in contact with skin. The handcuffs do not have galvanic coatings like nickel or zinc.
