Helikon-Tex Pilgrim Anorak Jacket - Earth Brown/Black

Hooded anorak jacket in Earth Brown/Black colour, with an outer shell made from DuraCanvas material. It features a high collar with chin guard, YKK zips, loops for attaching and practically located pockets, aiding the organisation of carried items. Designed for use in demanding and variable weather conditions. It has an extended fit that effectively protects the body, regardless of the range of motion.

DuraCanvas material resistant to sparks

The Pilgrim jacket is constructed from durable, quick-drying, and spark-resistant DuraCanvas fabric with a grammage of 230 g/m2. This material is also stretchable, preventing restriction of movement. An additional advantage of the material is the possibility of waxing. The extended back protects against the cold.

7 capacious pockets

The Pilgrim Anorak model includes 7 practical pockets for convenient storage of gear:

  • two chest pockets closed with a flap and Canadian button
  • two Napoleon pockets with organiser and zip
  • two arm pockets with zip closure
  • one kangaroo pocket at the front

The main "kangaroo" pocket with zip closure, accessible from both sides, has an insulated interior ideal for hand warming.

YKK zips

Main Half-Zip closure is a two-way YKK zip. The stand-up collar has a guard to protect the chin from being pinched by the slider. Internal tape loops available when the main zip is opened allow additional accessories to be attached.

adjustable hood, cuffs, ventilation openings

Adjustable hood with visor and high collar shield against rain and wind. Velcro fastened cuffs and waist drawstrings allow the jacket to be fitted to the body shape. Ventilation openings under the arms with zips and finished with Mesh lining increase breathability and heat regulation.

This is a very successful anorak — it stands out both for its cut and for the quality of the stitching and materials used. I myself have two pairs of Duracanvas trousers and can confirm that this material is excellent for waxing. I disagree with one user’s opinion that the manufacturer was artificially attaching some ideology to this material by recommending that it be waxed. Apparently, that person had no practical experience with waxing Duracanvas and made that judgement without grounds. It is also worth not relying on the comment of someone who dismissed this excellent product and material because of slight colour abrasion near the drawcord on the back. This is a completely natural phenomenon. I say this from experience, because I have had many military contract parkas made from top-class materials, and every one of them showed signs of abrasion in exactly that spot. That is simply normal.

At my measurements of 193 cm tall and 98.5 kg, with a slight belly, size 2XL fits well and gives a subtle oversized look, so a thicker fleece can easily fit underneath. The sleeves are the right length for my height — after loosening the cuff adjustment, they reach the knuckles, so there is still some extra room and the fabric does not pull when bending the arms. A very well-thought-out solution is also the use of pockets characteristic of a smock in the upper part of the torso. Another big plus is the shock-cord drawcord at the waist.

    Size: L

Well-designed pockets with compartments, additional attachment points for carabiners, a very successful cut, and the biggest advantage for me is the zip-open vents under the arms. If the Pilgrim model had full side zips like the Woodsman, it would be the perfect anorak. At 184 cm tall, with a 102 cm waist, 112 cm chest, and weighing 92 kg, size L fits me perfectly.

I liked the jacket. It's comfortable. The only downside, though not with the jacket itself, is that according to the size chart (size M), I wouldn’t have been able to put it on at all. I ordered the size I have always worn (XL).

The jacket is very well made, perfect for outdoor activities. Made from durable material, it has a comfortable cut and plenty of useful pockets, which makes it extremely practical.

Very well-made jacket from a robust material. I think it will provide useful service for a long time. Great loose, relaxed fit so you can wear something underneath even in winter.

This is the best jacket I’ve had so far. I am 185 cm tall and weigh 74 kg – size S fits perfectly, even with a fleece underneath. It is very comfortable, offers excellent wind protection, and has the right length, covering the buttocks. The hood is large, and the high collar shields the neck well. The jacket seems extremely durable – I am very satisfied. I used to wear woodlands, Yukon Sasa, and Smok, but the Pilgrim has truly impressed me. I’m waiting for a promotion to buy the black version.

I am 176cm tall and weigh 72kg. I ordered an M and it fits perfectly. The material is quite quiet when moving and feels pleasant on the outside. Inside, it's almost entirely mesh, which is also great, and there are lots of ventilation slits that ensure excellent breathability.

I received this jacket as a gift. At a height of 190 cm, the XXL size fits well in terms of length and sleeves, and the Earth/Brown colour blends interestingly with MCDU Desert Night Camo trousers. I must admit that I'm not entirely comfortable with the way the jacket is put on over the head, especially after rain, but it is very comfortable. However, I do have some concerns about its durability, as reviews highlight that although the jacket is supposed to be very robust, someone had it wear through from normal use with a backpack.

Very satisfied. However, I've realised that a size larger would have been better. Bought in size L. I am 193 cm and slim. The sleeves are one or two centimetres too short, the rest fits well. It's for spring/autumn.

This is a really great jacket. Good quality, really well made. This anorak is perfect for when I'm in the countryside and woods with my dog. The size guide is accurate, I'm 6ft tall and slim and it fits perfectly with a jumper and fleece underneath. I've purchased quite a few items from this company and its always been a very professional & smooth transaction. I would highly recommend this company and this jacket.

I already have the black version of this jacket and like it so much I've now bought the green. I really like the chest pockets, all four of them, and the sleeve pockets. All are very useful for storing things. I'm 180cm with a 104cm chest, and the Medium fits well. I like the length at the back, which covers my backside. As it's a pull-on, it's a little bit awkward getting on and off, but the many upsides of this jacket far outweigh that. The material is quite tough, though not waterproof, but I wash it with a waterproofing additive and that increases rain resistance quite a lot.

I am very happy with this jacket. I chose the Taiga Green colour and I've been wearing it for a year and a half now, so I have a well-formed opinion. I am 171 cm tall and weigh 83 kg, and size L fits me perfectly, even if I wear a medium thickness fleece underneath. The jacket is nicely tailored. I really like the zippered underarm ventilation with a mesh insert when opened, which helps regulate temperature during intensive outdoor activities. The pockets are practical – slanted and with an extra zipped pocket underneath. The option to adjust the bottom of the jacket with a drawstring is a great solution – I can lengthen it to protect my back and bottom, or shorten it to the waist by pulling the cord. The spacious front pocket holds a map, buff or gloves. The material is resistant to abrasion and rain – so far it has never let me down and has never soaked through. The jacket is made with great care and attention to detail. I highly recommend it – it's really worth it.

The jacket in size M weighs 1,043 grams, which is only 8 grams more than my old, worn BW parka. In terms of size, they're practically identical – the Pilgrim has a longer back, whereas the German one has plenty of buttons, epaulettes, and brass snaps. But how long can you keep wearing a jacket from 1996? For my height of 170 cm, size M is appropriate, the sleeves are just right, and I can easily wear a 100 fleece, a light Decathlon insulator, and a thick padded vest underneath. The downside, in my opinion, is the Canadian buttons – opening a pocket with one hand is nearly impossible, especially if the other hand isn't fully functional. Snaps, like in BW or Swiss jackets, would have been a much better solution. That's why I'm taking off one star.

The jacket is great. I thought about the Woodsman model for a long time, but in the end I chose the Pilgrim because I found it at a good price. This is my first anorak and I have to admit it does its job. As usual with Helikon, the pocket layout is perfect. Right after buying it, the jacket proved itself during a mountain trip in the first snow. I don’t fully understand their sizing. At 183 cm tall and about 83 kg, I wear an M in the jacket and an L in the fleece. Unfortunately, I can also confirm one of the earlier reviews – after just one trip with a backpack, the back of the jacket started to wear down. That's a bit disappointing for this brand.
