The Helikon-Tex M65 Covert in the Green Black version is an excellent choice for people who need an exceptionally durable yet discreet jacket for everyday wear. I have appreciated the classic M65 cut for years, which is why I really like the way the manufacturer has combined a timeless design with modern features. The DuraCanvas fabric impresses with its durability and performs well in demanding conditions, while the elastic panels on the back provide complete freedom of movement. The thoughtfully designed pocket system also deserves high praise, as it allows you to carry a great many items without the fabric bulging unattractively. The detachable pocket that functions as a bum bag, along with the zip that allows quick opening, is also very impressive. In person, the Green Black colour looks excellent and effectively softens the military character of the jacket in an urban setting. This is better than I expected. I already have the Helikon M-65, but wanted something a little smarter for office and city use. It's lined, so not as light as I expected, and not really suitable for hot days. It has many pockets, probably more than you need, but that's a good thing. The fit is quite neat, but there's no waist drawstring. The material seems robust, similar to the Pilgrim jacket. It looks good, feels good and is cheaper than most similar jackets, so a good buy. I'm 180cm, 74kg and got the Medium. It has room to layer, but still looks good with just a shirt underneath.

In my opinion, this is quite a good option, although better ventilation would be useful, similar to that in the company’s other jackets, as well as drawcords at the waist and bottom hem. On the other hand, considering its different intended use, the gear works really well and doesn’t attract attention. It’s just a pity that the space for magazines is designed exclusively for 9 mm, because that is a limitation if you want to carry them on the side near the hook-and-loop pockets. A big plus is the waist pack hidden in the inner pocket, where you can safely keep documents and other items. I recommend the green-and-black version because it looks really great.

I bought it for the period from autumn to spring: for light hikes, dog walking, and as a general winter, city, and hiking jacket. I wouldn’t take it on demanding hikes because it’s a bit heavy, but it’s ideal for relaxed camping and tent trips. It’s warm enough and comes with plenty of practical pockets. It doesn’t have a removable lining, and the hood can be hidden in the collar. At 179 cm and 84 kg, I bought a size L, which is a little big, but the cuffs can be tightened, so at least I can layer up well underneath it in winter, and I don’t need to bring gloves for shorter walks. There are buttons everywhere instead of Velcro fastenings, which is why I think I’ll be wearing this item of clothing for decades.

I still managed to buy it at a promotional price ;) :) The jacket has lots of pockets, is carefully sewn, and is made from high-quality materials. The Versa Strech inserts are a great solution — thanks to them, for example, the hood hidden in the collar is less bulky.

The jacket is warm and comfortable, making it great for spring and autumn. However, it has a cut that makes it quite tight when you wear a thicker layer underneath, so I wouldn't recommend it for winter.

To give some context, I'm 1.76m tall, weigh 87 kg and have a chest measurement of 112 cm. I wanted a jacket for mid-season weather. I chose a size M (EU standard) because I have a Woodsman Shirt from Helikon-Tex in size L (EU), and I had to shorten the sleeves by 3 cm. With size M, I no longer need to shorten the sleeves. It's fine with just a t-shirt. When I wear a flannel shirt underneath, the sleeves feel slightly tight around my arms (maybe because the jacket is new). Then I added a sleeveless fleece waistcoat over the shirt. I can do up the jacket, but it does feel a bit tight. This jacket has lots of pockets, which is excellent. However, I found the lower front pockets on the jacket aren't deep enough; in my opinion, they're missing about 2 cm. All that's left is to try it this autumn to confirm whether choosing this jacket was a good decision.
