The shoes proved perfect during hikes on mountain trails in Madeira. Since the conditions there are humid and warm, I was looking for waterproof yet lightweight shoes – these met all my expectations. They are durable, provide good stability, but are not heavy. Wearing them is comfortable even in higher temperatures, and your feet don't get tired. The sole provides grip on various surfaces. Additionally, I really like how they look.
Columbia Redmond III Low Waterproof Shoes - Shark/Phoenix Blue
Low-profile trekking shoes in Shark/Phoenix Blue color, equipped with a waterproof Omni-Tech membrane. The construction combines durable synthetic leather, damage-resistant suede, and lightweight, breathable mesh. This model is perfect for mountain expeditions as well as versatile urban and outdoor footwear.
Omni-Tech membrane, sealed seams
The microporous Omni-Tech membrane guarantees breathability of up to 10,000 g/m2 and water resistance of up to 10,000 mm/m2. Additional moisture protection is provided by sealed seams, effectively blocking water ingress. A specially designed tongue prevents sand, dust, and other small debris from entering the shoe.
Anti-slip Omni-Grip outsole, Techlite midsole
The durable Omni-Grip rubber outsole provides excellent cushioning and high resistance to abrasion. Its anti-slip texture and deep tread pattern ensure a secure grip, even on wet and slippery surfaces.
The Techlite midsole, made of resilient foam, effectively supports and stabilizes the foot, greatly enhancing comfort, especially on uneven terrain. The additional reinforced toe cap protects toes from impacts during hikes.
Lacing system and pull-on loop
The lacing system allows for precise adjustment of the shoe to the foot, while a practical pull-on loop on the heel makes it easier to put on and take off the shoes quickly.

I rate the shoes a solid four. Like most Columbia products, you can put them on straight out of the box and head outside. They are comfortable, well-fitted and keep the foot secure, and the waterproofing, tested during recent rains, is flawless. The downside would be the tongue, which is too short and lacks a loop or handle, and the sole, which doesn't have the best grip. The shoes are best suited for forests or gravel, less so for rocky terrain.

My wife is exceptionally satisfied. On her very first outing, without breaking the shoes in beforehand, she walked several kilometres in the mountains and, despite having sensitive feet, did not feel any discomfort. Size 40.5 turned out to be a bit too small, so we exchanged them for 41. WE RECOMMEND!

After autumn and winter, I can share my opinion about these shoes. They are excellent – light and durable, worn every day. They still look almost like new. Just clean off the slush regularly and there’s no problem.

After two weeks of wearing them (I know it’s a short time, but I’ll add further observations over time) I think the shoes are very comfortable. I’ve already taken three 20-kilometre hikes in the forest and haven’t found any issues. The sizing matches the description – 45 really is 45. They also look very good :-).
