In the brick-and-mortar store, I tried on several Columbia jackets and softshells, about six different models. I was completely sure that size L would be perfect, but this particular model is more like size XL (despite what the label says). It's supposed to be a Regular fit, but for me, it sits rather loosely. The chest pocket seems too large and too deep – if you put a wallet or ticket in it, it almost falls into the lower pocket. I rate the workmanship very highly, and the softshell material feels noticeably different from North Face: it is softer and exceptionally comfortable to the touch. The hood is also a plus – slightly insulated and fits well, although you won’t fit a helmet under it. Will I consider size M? Probably not – the overly large chest pocket puts me off.
