Its beginnings date back to 1683 when Petrus Meindl founded the first cobbler's workshop. Company Development
For centuries Meindl operated as a local workshop, but the breakthrough came in the 20th century. In 1928, Lukas Meindl Senior established a modern shoe company, which began hiring employees and producing not only shoes but also traditional Bavarian leather trousers. In 1949, the brand presented its products for the first time at the shoe fair in Munich, which began a dynamic development and expansion beyond the Bavarian region.
In the following decades, Meindl became synonymous with innovation in the footwear industry. In the 70s, it introduced its own sole hardness classification (A–D), which to this day is a standard when choosing mountain boots. The brand was one of the first to apply modern technologies such as GORE-TEX, significantly enhancing the comfort and durability of the footwear.
