The system uses a combination of two modern filtration methods, significantly increasing purification effectiveness. The first is a ceramic filter responsible for trapping microorganisms. The silver-impregnated ceramic ensures high efficiency and also restricts the growth of microorganisms inside the filter. The second component is an activated carbon element, which improves the water's chemical properties and taste. The ceramic structure effectively removes bacteria, protozoa, cysts, and other pathogens larger than 0.2 microns, while the activated carbon reduces chemical compounds and removes unpleasant flavours and odours—particularly important when the water source is unknown.

The Katadyn Combi filter housing is made from robust plastics providing resistance to damage and long service life, even in challenging outdoor conditions. The design uses silicone seals for greater leak resistance and operational reliability. The filter is compatible both with wide-mouth bottles and can be mounted directly onto a tap using the included adapter. Its low weight and compact size make it easy to carry, ideal when bottled water is not readily available. The ergonomically shaped pump enhances user comfort.
