After testing the jacket in light rain, I found that it lets water through after 10 minutes! On the website, it states: -PU coating with DWR finish -waterproof rating of 10,000 mm/m2 Although it is water-repellent, moisture quickly appears inside. The quality-to-price ratio is acceptable, but its use is not recommended in wet conditions, even slightly damp ones, as stated on the website.
Helikon-Tex Levanter Jacket - Coyote
Ultralight anorak jacket in Coyote colour, effectively protects against wind and light rain. Designed as an additional protective layer, it is suitable for use in the field, trekking, camping, and daily use in variable weather conditions. Thanks to the easy-to-pack construction and low weight, the jacket can be conveniently carried in a backpack, bag, or even a large cargo pocket.
Made from nylon, PU coating with DWR finish
The jacket is made of 100% Rip-Stop nylon with a grammage of 105 g/m2, combining low weight with high abrasion resistance. The material is covered with a PU polyurethane coating with waterproofness of 10,000 mm/m2 and breathability of 10,000 g/m2/24 h and finished with DWR C0, providing effective moisture protection while maintaining excellent breathability.
Partial opening, chin guard
The front of the jacket features a partial zipper, making it easier to put on and take off. The high collar with a chin guard further protects against adverse weather conditions. The zipper is protected by a flap with velcro, preventing moisture and cold air from entering the jacket's interior.
Adjustable hood and elasticated cuffs
The hood with adjustable features protects the head from precipitation. Elasticated cuffs and adjustable hem ensure optimal fit and prevent cold air from entering under the jacket.
Spacious front pocket
The Levanter model has a spacious front pocket that allows for safe storage of essential items. It can be accessed from both sides thanks to zippers located on the sides.

Size: M
Very good jacket with a pleasantly loose fit. That is exactly what I particularly like about it, since you can easily wear a jumper or a fleece jacket underneath. There are two things I would still like: an integrated pack pocket so the jacket can be packed away compactly, and a way to stow the hood in the collar when it is not in use. Otherwise, I am very satisfied – clear recommendation!

Size: 3XL
To start with, I’ll give it two stars for the cut, the modest wind protection, and the overall fit of the jacket. I’m 185 cm tall, weigh 120 kg, and size 3XL fits well, even when I’m wearing a cotton sweatshirt underneath, and the “tactical belly” is not especially noticeable. The jacket isn’t tight, it doesn’t pull, and it sits exactly as it should, while the front pocket remains practical and it’s not immediately obvious that there’s something in it. The high fastening effectively shields the neck from the wind, and when unzipped it provides sensible ventilation. The hood adjustment is simple, it sits well, and the hood itself is the right size and genuinely deserves to be called a hood. It compresses very well and, in my opinion, will fit without any problem into the pocket of most cargo trousers, and in some there would even still be a bit of room left. As for waterproofing, I tested the jacket twice in the rain. The first time, it was a light drizzle during a walk lasting around 10–15 minutes. The second time, I stood for about 4 minutes at a stop in heavier, wind-driven rain while waiting for the tram. In both situations, the hood practically absorbed water instead of repelling it, and during the heavier rain the material also got soaked through on the shoulders and back. Perhaps the PU coating really is there, but the claimed 10,000 mm waterproof rating sounds more like theory than practice. There seems to be some kind of DWR, because the droplets stayed on the surface for a while, but without much effect. Militaria.pl once had a cheap no-name hardshell on which the DWR worked really well — even after several washes, water still ran off it without any problem. To sum up: as an emergency windbreaker, the jacket does the job, but as rain protection it completely failed for me. Maybe I got a weaker example, but when it comes to Helikon, at this point I’m only leaning towards their trousers, and even then mostly when bought on sale, because I get the impression that lately the quality has stopped keeping up with the price. It’s a shame, because their ideas and solutions are genuinely interesting.

A good rain jacket to have with you at all times. Lightweight and packs up small, it can be thrown on quickly thanks to the wide opening. The cut is rather loose, suited for slim people. For around €40, the price is okay – you shouldn't pay more for this jacket.
