Bushmen Underquilt Glow -2 deg. C

Underquilt Glow -2 deg. C is an exceptionally lightweight and warm hammock underquilt. It effectively wraps around you and protects against the cold. It performs well even in winter. Designed for use across three seasons, from autumn to spring. The model weighs just 525 grams, making it an excellent choice for those looking for lightweight gear.

The filling consists of 300 g of Polish natural goose down with a fill power of 750 cuin. The comfort temperature is -2 deg. C, and the limit temperature is -9 deg. C. Goose down is the most effective and lightest insulator, characterised by excellent loft, which is key to retaining heat.

It is important to note that the down filling the Underquilt Glow is recycled. It is obtained from products that, due to wear and tear, must be replaced with new ones. Before reuse, the down undergoes a thorough sanitisation and cleaning process using biodegradable detergents. Finally, the clean, sanitised and dried down is sorted and replenished to maintain a fill power of 750 cuin.

The outer fabric is ultra-lightweight nylon with a micro Rip Stop weave. The fabric provides adequate strength and breathability. It is dense enough that the down does not penetrate it, even after prolonged use. The nylon is coated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellency) water-repellent finish, which prevents water from being absorbed by the fabric and the down. Water beads up on the surface of the fabric and runs off freely.

One side of the liner is dark green, which blends well into the surroundings. The other is orange, which helps to attract attention. The liner can be used on both sides, depending on your needs.

Thanks to its unique design, the Underquilt is suitable not only as an underquilt, but also as a comfortable sleeping bag, topquilt, duvet or an additional insulating layer for a sleeping bag. The special shape of the quilt maximises the insulating properties of the down. The H-shaped down chamber construction (the so-called ‘warm seam’) eliminates cold spots, i.e. uninsulated spaces, thereby enhancing the underquilt’s insulating properties.

In the areas covering the chest, shoulders and head, the Underquilt Glow is 140 cm wide, with chambers shaped like rectangular cushions. This prevents the down from shifting to the lower parts of the quilt, ensuring that the torso and head are always well protected. The narrower section, designed to protect the legs, has a special, longitudinal chamber shape, ensuring optimal warmth and use of the down.

The underquilt can be quickly and easily adjusted to fit any hammock. The set includes two tension straps (1.25 m) with tensioners fitted with self-locking clips. This allows you to adjust the underquilt effortlessly whilst lying in the hammock. When you are not using the hammock and plan to sleep on a flat surface, e.g. under a tarp, the Underquilt Glow can be used as a sleeping bag or topquilt. Simply tie the expanders around the mattress and attach them to the tensioners to prevent the quilt from shifting.
