Alpinus Kiruna Jacket - Black
A down jacket in black, designed to be worn during the transitional season - in autumn, spring and during a mild winter. It combines natural duck down filling, a construction that limits the effect of wind, and practical solutions useful both in the field and for everyday use.
The lightweight, quilted construction increases wearing comfort, while the three-dimensional structure of the down traps warmed air inside the chambers, helping maintain proper thermal comfort. The Kiruna model protects against the cold and effectively reduces wind penetration.
Rip-stop nylon with DWR coating, smooth lining
The outer layer is made of 100% Rip-Stop nylon. The characteristic grid weave reinforces the fabric and reduces the risk of any damage spreading further. The fabric limits the penetration of cold wind, which supports the thermal insulation properties of the natural down during field activities.
The outer fabric has been coated with a DWR finish that increases its water repellency. Water droplets run off the surface of the fabric instead of immediately soaking into its structure. The coating helps protect the jacket from light rain, drizzle, morning dew and moisture.
The inside of the jacket is finished with a 400T nylon lining, also coated with a DWR finish. The smooth surface improves wearing comfort and makes it easier to put the jacket on over an additional layer of clothing.
Natural down filling
Insulation is provided by natural duck down in a 90/10 ratio - 90% down and 10% feathers. The down creates a three-dimensional structure that traps warmed air and limits its exchange with the cold surroundings. As a result, the jacket provides effective protection against heat loss while maintaining a relatively low weight.
The insulation with a grammage of 175 g/m2 has been distributed in chambers created by horizontal quilting. This solution helps keep the down in the right place and limits its shifting during wear. The even distribution of insulation contributes to stable thermal properties across the entire surface of the torso and sleeves.
Thoughtful pocket layout
The Kiruna model is equipped with a total of 5 pockets:
- 2 side outer pockets closed with zips
- 1 vertical chest pocket closed with a zip
- 2 open inner pockets
The side pockets are lined with soft microfleece. They work well for warming your hands or carrying small items such as keys, a phone or documents.
The vertical chest pocket provides quick access to the most frequently used accessories. The inner pockets offer additional space for a hat, gloves, a phone or other lightweight equipment.
zip, integrated hood
The jacket is equipped with an integrated hood with a contoured brim that protects the head, forehead and face from the cold and light precipitation. Thanks to the adjustment with cord locks, its circumference can be fitted to the head and the inflow of cold air can be reduced in windy weather.
At the front there is an SBS main zip running from the bottom edge of the jacket to the high collar. The zip features a chin guard flap to protect the chin from contact with the slider and a puller for easier operation while wearing gloves. When fully zipped up, the raised collar and hood create additional protection for the neck and head against the cold and gusts of wind.
Bottom hem adjustment, relaxed fit
The bottom edge of the jacket is equipped with a drawstring with cord locks. This solution allows the circumference to be adjusted to the body shape and helps reduce draughts from below.
The cut of the Kiruna model was developed to maintain comfort during activity. The quilted construction adapts to the body shape while also providing full freedom of movement.

Alpinus is a European outdoor brand with a rich history, founded in 1990 by distinguished Himalayan climbers – Artur Hajzer, Janusz Majer and Ryszard Warecki. From the very beginning, its mission was to create reliable clothing and equipment for people who actively spend time in the outdoors. As one of the pioneering brands in Poland, Alpinus introduced clothing with a Gore-Tex membrane to its range, setting new quality standards. After a period of absence, the brand returned to the market, combining its mountaineering heritage with modern technologies and an environmentally responsible approach to production. It is now recognised by both professionals and enthusiasts of outdoor expeditions.

DWR (Durable Water Repellency) is a durable waterproofing treatment that increases the surface tension of water and creates a hydrophobic coating on materials. It protects the material from rapid soaking, improves drying, provides stain resistance and increases breathability.
SBS zippers are high-quality zippers commonly used in clothing and accessories, manufactured by SBS Zipper- one of the world's largest zipper manufacturers.
Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric from abrasions and tears. It is characterized by additional threads woven in at regular intervals, forming a mesh-like pattern. It provides high strength to the fabric, increases resistance to mechanical damage, especially tears.
