The Zeppelin brand was founded in 1987 in Ismaning, near Munich, by Wilhelm Birk as the company POINTtec Electronic GmbH. Initially, the company focused on producing advertising watches for large corporations. The breakthrough came in 2000 when POINTtec obtained a license to use the name "Zeppelin," and by 2002, the first watch bearing this name appeared on the market. Zeppelin refers to the golden age of aviation from the early 20th century, particularly to legendary airships like the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin.
