Sky-Watcher Telescope BK MAK 102 OTA optical tube

Telescope with Maksutov optics, characterised by excellent image sharpness and lack of chromatic aberration. It consists of a meniscus corrector made of crown glass, a primary mirror, and a secondary mirror placed inside the meniscus. This model is also suitable for terrestrial observations, making it appropriate for both beginners and more experienced users.

The telescope is based on the Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system, which includes a meniscus correction plate, a primary mirror, and a secondary mirror placed on the inner side of the meniscus. This type of construction is valued for its outstanding sharpness and high image contrast, as well as for reducing optical defects such as coma and chromatic aberration.

The diameter of the tube is 120 mm, the focal length is 1300 mm, and the diameter of the eyepiece holder is 1.25 inches. Maximum magnification reaches 153 x. The use of a long focal length allows for detailed observations of the Moon's surface, Saturn's rings, Jupiter's cloud bands, and other bright celestial bodies. The optical elements are coated with multi-layered coatings, which enhance light transmission and increase contrast. This solution enables clearer detail during planet and Moon observations and improves observation comfort at high magnifications.

The model can be mounted on a photo tripod thanks to the appropriate connection in the tube. Due to the telescope's long focal length, the manufacturer recommends using astronomical mounts of at least AZ4 (azimuthal) or EQ3-2 (equatorial) class. The tube measures about 280 mm and weighs just under 2 kg, which allows for easy transport in a small backpack or carrying bag.
