Kel-Met KM1001 Chain handcuffs
Kel-Met chain handcuffs are protective equipment primarily used by law enforcement services such as the Police or Border Guard, as well as during various interventions. They are applied in situations requiring effective restraint of a person, ensuring safety for both the officer and the detainee. Commonly used during transport or securing individuals during arrest. These handcuffs feature wide wrist openings, responding to the needs reported by Polish uniformed services.
Stainless steel construction
Entirely made of stainless steel compliant with PN-EN 10088-1. The material used is non-toxic, resistant to mechanical damage, and does not cause allergic reactions. Absence of galvanic coatings such as nickel or zinc allows compliance with Directive 76/769/EEC-94/27/EEC and draft national regulations concerning products in contact with the skin.
Structure and operation mechanism
The set includes two cuffs connected by a chainmail-type chain, attached using rotating joints. The shape of the cuffs is designed to reduce the risk of abrasions and injuries during proper use.
The cuffs are made of steel components with a double-locking mechanism and a movable ratchet arm. Each cuff features a ratchet lock that can be set in any position to avoid over-tightening. Protection against accidental opening is activated by a pin located on the key. Pressing the pin engages the lock, and turning the key releases it.
Strength requirements
The handcuffs withstand the application of static force:
- breaking force of 2300 N – applied in the plane of one shackle with the other fixed. After releasing the force, the handcuffs retain full functionality.
- bending force of 500 N – applied perpendicularly to the shackle plane at the end opposite the mounting point, without causing permanent deformation.

Very good quality and careful workmanship. I disagree with the opinions that they are 'clunky' – after all, these are handcuffs, not a decoration. However, you should remember that they do not fit every holster.

At this price, you won't find better and more practical handcuffs. I've been using them myself for several months and I'm very satisfied – even more expensive models aren't as functional. They may look bulky, but for people who use them, that's not a problem. I recommend them to anyone who is undecided!

Handcuffs worth their price. I had three models from different manufacturers and I kept only these. They are heavier by about a third, but they also seem to have a greater adjustment range. They look a bit bulky, have minor scratches and in places seem less refined visually, but what's most important here is functionality, not looks.

They work great during service. They operate smoothly, nothing gets stuck, and you can easily cuff most people. I am very happy with them. The only drawback is the position of the lock, but you can get used to it.

Solid, though they rattle a little. However, this minor drawback can be eliminated with a well-chosen holster. Nevertheless, this is a really durable and solid product, I sincerely recommend it – especially for this price.

Good handcuffs in a normal size, unlike Chinese ones, which are for small hands. They work efficiently and are well made. I recommend them.

Durable handcuffs in 1:1 scale, the same as those used by the Polish police and other uniformed services – for this price it's the most reasonable option. I use them during service, I recommend having a spare pair, especially when dealing with a larger number of people – then extra handcuffs are very useful. Police officers in the USA carry several pairs, so I also have more than one.
