I have mixed feelings about this sleeping bag. I used it in summer and autumn, and today at -3°C it was not comfortable, possibly because the last buckle at the top broke during sleep in the hammock, which made it impossible to fasten it properly. At this price, I expected a better product. I wouldn't buy it again unless it was available for no more than 600 PLN. Soon I will send it back under warranty.
Fjord Nansen Arran Quilt 420 g Sleeping Bag - Forest Green
Lightweight and easy to pack down sleeping bag in Forest Green, designed for spring and autumn use. Effectively protects against the cold, with a durable nylon outer shell and duck down filling for reliable insulation.
Temperatures and usage conditions
Usage temperatures of the Arran Quilt sleeping bag according to EN 13537 standard:
- T-comfort: -1 C – the lowest temperature at which a woman can sleep comfortably through the night,
- T-limit: -6 C – the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -22 C – the lowest temperature at which survival in the sleeping bag is possible. Not recommended for regular use.
Nylon construction reinforced with ripstop
The Arran model is made of durable 10D nylon with Rip-Stop technology, increasing resistance to mechanical damage. The fabric is coated with a WR (Water Repellent) hydrophobic layer to protect against moisture.
Filled with hydrophobic duck down
The Arran Quilt is a top quilt, meaning it lacks a hood and bottom insulation. This eliminates compression of the insulation, improving its efficiency. The down is distributed on the front and sides, enhancing cold protection. The filling consists of a 92/8 blend of duck down and feathers, providing good thermal insulation and breathability. Thanks to DuPont impregnation, the down absorbs moisture more slowly and dries faster. A fill power of 800 cuin allows for compact packing. Extra foot area insulation improves thermal comfort, while H-shaped baffles prevent down shifting and ensure even insulation.
Central zipper, Anti-Bite system
Central zipper allows the bag to be fully opened and is equipped with the Anti-Bite system to prevent snagging. The fluorescent puller makes operation easier in the dark. A top drawcord offers better fit and protection in cold conditions. Mounting loops allow a liner to be attached and prevent it from slipping when exiting the sleeping bag.
Footbox with drawcord, straps with buckles
Footbox with a drawcord allows convenient adjustment and improved ventilation. The lower part, or footbed, can be laid flat for versatile use – for example, as a lightweight quilt. Elastic straps with buckles allow the bag to be secured to a mat or mattress, ensuring stability without restricting movement. Inside is a pocket for small accessories.
Easy transport and storage
When packed, the model has compact dimensions of 26 x 17 cm and weighs just 690 g, making it convenient to carry without adding unnecessary bulk.
Set components
The set includes a practical stuff sack that protects the sleeping bag during transport from dirt and damage.

The topquilt works perfectly – I use it in temperatures ranging from 10°C to (so far) -1°C. At times I had to undress because it was very warm. It cooperates well with the mattress thanks to the included straps. I highly recommend it. I use it in a hammock, tent, and on the ground.

The quilt has really big loft. After expanding, it almost completely filled a 65-litre mesh bag. It can be packed into the original cover, but because of the thin fabric I don't expect long durability. I have only slept in it in summer, but its thickness is comparable to sleeping bags I know that are comfortable at 0°C. The quality matches the price. For now, I recommend it.
