This is my first radio, so I don't have a point of reference, but the 10 W power works great – I had communication with the repeater at a distance of 20-25 km without any problem. Someone mentioned earlier about charging via a C port, but that's not true – they probably never had this radio in their hands or confused the models. The technical description says there is no automatic channel scanning function, which is not true, because the radio has such a feature.
TYT TH-UV98 PMR Two-Way Radio 3200 mAh
The TH-UV98 is a dual-band handheld two-way radio with a maximum power of 10 watts. It features a DMTF keypad, a dual LCD display with white backlight, a built-in torch, and FM radio.
Dual Watch function, CTCSS and DCS tones
The Dual Watch function allows you to monitor two channels simultaneously, prioritising the frequency where an incoming call appears. The TH-UV98 radio is equipped with CTCSS and DCS and a simple scrambler for encryption.
Kenwood connector, programming options
The radio includes a PTT - push-to-talk button. It has a Kenwood-type connector allowing the connection of headphones with a microphone, dedicated micro speakers, or shooting hearing protectors. The antenna connector used is the SMA-M standard. Programming the radio is possible from the keypad or a computer using a USB cable (not included in the set). The TH-UV98 model is compatible with the cable for Baofeng UV-5R and Baofeng UV-82 radios. The software includes a range of functions to facilitate grouping and identification. The VOX function allows for voice-activated transmission without pressing the PTT button.
FM radio
The model is equipped with an FM radio. Despite the active FM radio, the TH-UV98 will continue to monitor channels, and the FM is interrupted when an incoming call is received.
Battery powered
Built-in lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 3200 mAh.
Note!
Using the two-way radio requires a licence to operate in the radio communication network.

This is my first radio, so I don’t have a point of reference yet and I’m just starting my adventure, but I can already say that the battery lasts very well, the menu is intuitive and convenient, and the radio sits nicely in the hand – it’s just the right size. Interestingly, although the specifications said there is no option to scan channels, in reality this function is immediately available in the menu.

I have already purchased five of these devices and I am very satisfied. The devices have excellent battery life and their range is quite good. It is worth considering buying a bigger antenna, as the basic one is quite short and therefore limits the device's capabilities.

Great radio, it is an interesting alternative for those who do not want to use a Baofeng. I appreciate the high power and the large battery with USB-C charging.

In my opinion, only advantages, I definitely recommend it.
