I bought the sharpener as a handy, portable tool that you can toss in your backpack and use in the field when needed. However, I noticed it removes material very quickly and efficiently, even better than some larger diamond plates, which means the sharpening results – for example, forming a burr – are visible quickly and you can get a good edge on your knife. With a bit of skill in holding the angle, you can achieve a really good effect. Therefore, apart from being a backup tool in my backpack, it's also good for more challenging knives as it shortens sharpening time. Of course, because of its size and construction, which make it easy to carry, you have to accept some compromises and inconveniences. Unless someone prefers a method where the sharpener moves and the knife stays still – in that case this solution will be almost ideal.

For this price, it does its job very well. After folding, remember that there's no extra lock – of course, it won't open by itself, but it's better to keep it in a case. It sharpens knives well. By regularly touching up the knife with this, I never let it get blunt and this method works. It's fine.

The construction is interesting, although you can see it was made far away. I noticed large play in the pivot, and the handle doesn't lock in any position. I've only sharpened a few knives so far, so I can't say how durable the diamond coating is, but at this price it works. The diamonds aren't very aggressive and are better suited for touching up blades. Maybe it's a matter of grit – I'd change the lower grit to fewer than #360 to sharpen major damage more quickly. For home use, I'd choose something else, but for my backpack it's fine.
