This is one of the most compact camping solutions available on the market. It takes up very little space in your backpack, which allows you to pack all your essential sleeping gear—even in winter—into a 20-litre backpack (tested with a Snugpak 6 Kestrel sleeping bag, comfortable down to 0°C, and a midi self-inflating mat of the same brand). In summer, you just need to combine the bivvy with a blanket for equal comfort. Head mosquito netting attached to a peaked cap and tightening the drawstring in the bivvy hood effectively protect you from insects. After securing yourself like this, there's only a small hole left, allowing you to breathe freely. I haven't yet had the opportunity to use the product in the rain, but I intend to test it. If the waterproofing claimed by the manufacturer proves to be true, I'll use the bivvy regardless of the weather conditions. It's worth adding that getting in and out of a bivvy is always a problem in the rain—it's hard to avoid getting the inside and all your gear wet. The only way to avoid this is to set up a poncho or tarp over the bivvy. However, as a minimalist, I avoid carrying unnecessary things. When I take the bivvy, I leave the poncho and tarp at home. So what should you do when it rains? How do you protect your sleeping bag and mat? The best solution is to find natural or artificial shelter, such as a large tree, a fallen log, a shelter, a playground element or outdoor gym, or an overpass. If you look carefully, you can always find suitable rain cover. It's worth treating finding such a shelter as an interesting challenge. I definitely recommend this product because of its exceptional compactness and simple design. It's a great choice for minimalism enthusiasts and stealth camping fans—a piece of gear well worth your attention.
