Njord traditional fire steel Small
Njord traditional fire steel Small
A traditional fire steel, often referred to as a blacksmith's fire, modelled on medieval fire starting tools.
High hardness forged carbon steel, flint and leather pouch included
Made from forged carbon steel hardened to a hardness of 57 HRC, for high durability and wear resistance. Comes with a flint for creating sparks and a leather pouch for easy carrying.
Directions for use
To start a fire with a traditional fire steel, use a flint and tinder, a flammable material that will capture the sparks. Fire steel should be struck against an attached piece of flint, placing the tinder (e.g. charred cotton or other material capable of capturing sparks) on the edge of the flint. The sparks that occur will fall onto the hub, causing it to glow. The tinder should then be placed in a dry material, such as grass, vegetable fluff or wood shavings, and the embers blown to produce a flame.
