Exped Sim Ultra 3.8 M Self-inflating Mat - Lichen

Self-inflating mat in green colour, made from 20D recycled polyester, known for its abrasion resistance. The material is coated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) laminate. An R-Value of 3.7 provides effective thermal insulation, protecting against cold and ground unevenness.

The model features a thermal insulation coefficient of R-Value 3,7, determined in accordance with ASTM F3340-18. This parameter defines the level of insulation from the ground - the higher the value, the more effective the reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of R-Value used in the outdoor industry:

• 1.0-2.0 - use in summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 C),
• 2.1-3.5 - use in spring-summer-autumn (approx. 0-10 C),
• 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 C and sub-zero temperatures down to approx. -5 /-10 C,
• 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 C,
• above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleep system (sleeping bag, clothing), ground type and the user’s individual resistance to cold.

Use of lightweight PU foam with a grammage of 13 kg/m3 ensures the mat offers an R-Value of 3.7, providing thermal comfort down to -10 deg. C. The flat valve allows for quick inflation and deflation.
