ESS tactical glasses Crossbow One - Photochromic
ESS Crossbow ballistic glasses are part of the Cross-Series line, designed for tactical users, shooters, and uniformed services who require high eye protection. This model is equipped with a photochromic ballistic visor that provides 100% protection against UVA and UVB radiation and automatic adjustment of tint level to current lighting conditions. Flexible Black frames are compatible with interchangeable Cross-Series visors, allowing the attachment of an additional securing strap.
Polycarbonate visor, ClearZone FlowCoat technology
The visor is made from durable 2.4 mm polycarbonate, characterised by resistance to mechanical damage and deformation. ESSOPTICS-compliant construction provides a distortion-free view across the entire field of vision and high-quality optics in dynamic conditions. The utilised ClearZone FlowCoat technology is a dual-layer protection system: the outer layer protects against scratches, while the inner layer reduces lens fogging.
Installed photochromic visor with Transitions Optics Light-Adapting technology automatically adjusts the tint level in response to changing lighting conditions. Visor operation parameters:
- 50% activation in 11 seconds,
- 90% activation in less than 1 minute,
- visible light transmission (VLT): 86% - 24%.
Crossbow frames, Cross-Series construction, silicone nosepiece
Flexible Crossbow frames are made from a lightweight and durable material, ensuring comfort even during extended wear. Tri-Tech Fit technology reduces pressure points and improves the fit of the glasses to the user's head. The temples are coated internally with a non-slip rubber finish, increasing stability during movement. The glasses have a replaceable composite-silicone nosepiece enhancing user comfort. Cross-Series construction enables smooth visor interchangeability and compatibility with ultra-thin Suppressor frames, which work with hearing protectors and communication systems.
Visor interchange system
The glasses feature a DedBolt snap system, allowing for quick and easy visor replacement without the use of tools. This mechanism involves profiled notches at the ends of the visor and a central mounting hole, ensuring a solid lens fit in the frame. This solution allows for rapid configuration of the glasses according to lighting conditions and user needs.
Cross-Series compatibility
The Crossbow model is part of the Cross-Series platform, enabling the use of other visors from the same series and the exchange of standard frames for ultra-thin Suppressor temples. This allows the glasses to work with active hearing protectors, communication systems, and other tactical equipment. The construction also allows for the installation of an optional flexible strap to prevent loss.
The glasses are compatible with corrective inserts:
- U-RX
- P-2B
- Vice

Anti-Fog coating prevents lens fogging, maintaining clear vision in humid conditions or during varying temperatures. Eyeglasses with this coating do not require frequent cleaning or defogging, making vision more comfortable.
The use of ClearZone FlowCoat technology protects the outside of the visor from scratching and the inside from fogging.
Tri-Tech Fit is a technology used in flexible glasses frames. It provides high wearing comfort and eliminates pressure points. It allows the glasses to fit the shape of the user's head.
DedBolt snap-in system allows for easy and very quick replacement of the visor - it is mounted by means of contoured notches on its edges and a hole in the center of the glasses.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
MIL-PRF-31013 is an American military standard that covers the requirements for protective glasses that provide ballistic eye protection. The standard specifies the glasses' ability to withstand the impact of a .15-inch (3.8-mm) steel bullet weighing 0.376 grams at 200 m/s.
