Flecktarn camouflage

The camouflage pattern usually consists of 5 colors: black, dark green, light green, reddish brown and greenish brown or sand. It also comes in three-, four- and six-color versions, depending on the manufacturer. The most important masking element in the case of the Flecktarn pattern is the speckles, which are designed to create a , "distracting" effect. They blur the sharp edges between colors, making the figure silhouette harder to see.

Flecktarn also has a desert version in muted colors, dedicated to dry and sandy areas. The origins of this form of the pattern date back to World War II, but the final pattern we know today was created in 1989 for the German army, and designed by Prof. Johann Georg Otto Schick.
