Desert Night Camouflage, known as DNC for short, was developed in the early 1980s by the United States Army. This camouflage pattern consists of a beige background, green squares and random dark spots.

The DNS was developed to enable concealment at night in desert areas. The original intent was to outsmart the night vision technology used by Soviet troops in the 1960s. The DNC camouflage was phased out after a failed trial during Operation Desert Storm conducted in the Persian Gulf in 1991.

Desert Night Camo, like other types of camouflage, is unable to neutralize night vision technology, but will perform very well in wooded areas.
