I've had it for some time now, so I've had a chance to test it thoroughly. I really appreciate its capacity, the practical additional pockets, and the cover that comes with the set. The backpack may seem quite large, but 40 liters is really a lot of space, which makes it easy to pack a lot of gear. The side pockets with tightening straps are great – you can easily fit an AR stock in there.
Wisport Sparrow II 40 l Backpack - Graphite
Introducing the latest version of the renowned Sparrow model! This compact military and survival backpack boasts a 40-liter capacity and is crafted from 500D Cordura in Graphite. Its design is inspired by the urban Raven model and is specifically tailored for rigorous field applications.
durable Cordura construction
The backpack is crafted from robust 500D Cordura, a material known for its high resistance to abrasions and potential mechanical damage, guaranteeing extended durability in tough conditions.
2 compartments, 5 pockets, hydration system
The Sparrow II model is designed with two roomy compartments. The main compartment features four D-rings on the rear wall for accessory attachment. The secondary compartment comes with an extended organizer to sort small items. Within the main compartment, there are zippered mesh pockets. The flap includes a flat pocket similar in size to the main compartment, about 5 cm thick, suitable for documents, maps, or a compact laptop. Additionally, a small, quick-access outer pocket is located on the flap.
Inside the backpack, there is a hook for a hydration bladder, a tube exit hole, and two loops (one on each shoulder strap) to ensure secure attachment.
main zipper, protective flaps
The primary and secondary compartments feature a two-way zipper that extends along three sides of the flap, offering broad access to the interior. Each zipper is durable and abrasion-resistant, equipped with textile pulls for ease of use even with gloves on. The zippers for both the compartments and the front pocket are guarded by cover flaps to protect the interior against moisture and dirt.
carrying system, compression straps, transport handle
The carrying system of the AFS - Air Flow System guarantees optimal structural integrity, user comfort, and efficient back heat dissipation. Enhanced comfort during wear is provided by quick-release, length-adjustable shoulder straps, along with the chest and hip straps. Tightly woven fabric lines the inner side of the straps, preventing them from snagging on clothing. A tunnel on the back is included for a fiberglass frame compatible with the backpack system (frame not included).
On each side, there are two compression straps with 30 mm fastex buckles, enabling volume reduction and secure attachment of gear like clothing, a tarp, sleeping pad, or camouflage net. A large and wide transport handle is positioned on top for easier portability.
MOLLE / PALS
MOLLE/PALS webbing is stitched on the front, bottom, and sides, enabling the attachment of extra gear or items for urgent need quick access.
velcro panel
On the front of the backpack, there's a velcro panel designed for attaching patches, unit insignias, national flags, or morale patches.
Set contents
Equipped with a practical rain cover, the backpack offers reliable protection against moisture for both the bag and its contents. Essential in both heavy rain and challenging outdoor conditions, it ensures the safety of equipment from getting wet.

Wisport Sparrow 40L backpack Pros: spacious, well-made Cons: no MOLLE straps on the front, water bottle pockets could be bigger as a 1-liter bottle fits but just barely Summary: this is the best backpack I have used so far
-
The backpack is made of very high-quality materials – in this regard, it matches brands like 5.11, Oakley, or Mystery Ranch. The stitching quality is excellent, the AFS carrying system is very comfortable, and the pocket layout and interior organization are flawless. However, I do have some reservations about a few design solutions: the lack of a molle system on the front and its replacement with two straps does not work well in practice. The handle of the shoulder straps has been sewn lower, causing the backpack to stick out and making it impossible to adjust. The side pockets are not functional – a 1L Camelbak bottle easily falls out, and the rows of molle straps on the sides are too short. Additionally, the strips protecting the zipper are poorly designed – they don’t return to place and snag on the zippers. As a result, I decided to return this backpack and am still looking for a 40-liter model.
-
The backpack is well made, nothing is coming apart, the seams are evenly stitched, and using it is really comfortable. The quality-to-price ratio is also very favorable, so I can easily recommend this product.
-
A solid backpack with a well-designed construction. According to the manufacturer, it weighs just under 2 kg without contents, but in my opinion it is light enough for its size. The set also includes a rain cover, which is located in the lower pocket of the backpack – this is definitely an advantage. The whole thing is made with attention to quality. I definitely recommend buying this model.

I switched from the Zipperfox 40 model to this Sparrow. I had previously used the Sparrow 30 liters as well, but I needed something bigger, so I later used the aforementioned Zipper 40. However, I missed having more compartments in it; although it was spacious, one large compartment with a few small pockets was too little. In this backpack, I can easily organize my belongings, and most importantly, it lasts me for three-day trips without any problem. The material is of course excellent Cordura, and the zippers are very well protected. I highly recommend this backpack.
-
Wisport is a synonym for the highest quality. Their backpacks work perfectly regardless of the circumstances. I personally use two models: 40 and 16 liters, which allows me to recommend them with full confidence.
-
I expected more from this backpack, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Pros: high quality workmanship and good materials. Cons: the organizer is completely impractical, located on the inside of the outer flap, so things from open pockets can easily fall out. There are also no load-adjusting straps on the shoulder straps, which, given the large capacity, makes the top of the backpack stick out – it doesn’t look good. The flat pocket in the main compartment could be divided in two, because as it is now, it’s not very useful. I think the backpack still needs some improvements and is not well refined. Maybe future versions will be better. For now – I’m returning it.
-
Overall, the backpack is solid, but the organizer is a complete failure. It is placed on the inside of the front flap, so items can easily fall out when you open it. Also, the organizer is very poorly designed – I am really disappointed. There are also no reinforcing straps at the top of the shoulder straps, which causes the top of the backpack to stick out – this could have been eliminated. It’s a shame because I had high hopes when I bought the backpack, but unfortunately I am disappointed. I am returning it.
-
Great backpack, exactly what I was looking for. I considered buying the ZipperFox 40, but the choice was determined by the interior dimensions of this model. It works perfectly for two- or three-day trips. The placement of the Pals/Molle attachments is, in my opinion, very well planned. Thanks to the zipper shaped like an inverted U, you can very quickly access the entire contents of the main compartment. The carrying system is very comfortable and an additional advantage is the built-in rain cover.
-
This backpack is relatively heavy and expensive for this category, although the build quality – typical for this brand – remains very good. Many of the applied solutions will work better in urban conditions than in the field. Personally, I wouldn't choose this model for forest trips or long hikes, mainly because of the weight.
-
The quality of the backpack is at a high level, as always with the Wisport brand – both the materials and craftsmanship are excellent. The new technologies improve the comfort and functionality of the model. Thanks to the comfortable carrying system with innovative foam on the back and a built-in hip belt, the weight of the backpack becomes less noticeable.
-
This is a very solid backpack. Both the materials used and the craftsmanship make it suitable for many years of use. The size of the backpack makes it more appropriate for multi-day trips rather than for everyday use.
-
The camouflage looks impressive in person. The backpack is made extremely solidly, made of durable, high-quality materials. This is gear for many years. Highly recommended.
