This is a really solid backpack – it has served me well on several of my trips, and it is surprisingly comfortable to carry things in, which positively surprised me for this type of backpack. After unfastening the hip belt, it can easily replace a cabin suitcase because it has a similar size. I always take it with me on flights and it works great. The materials it's made of are high quality – I’ve been using it for over a year, and it still looks brand new. The top pocket of the backpack is a very practical solution – you can store, for example, headphones, gloves, or glasses there, and at the same time, it's discreet and allows you to quickly grab small items you need. However, there is one downside that other users have also mentioned: the lack of straps tightening the shoulder straps at the top of the backpack causes the upper part to stick out after it's fully packed, and it looks unaesthetic. I’m surprised that Wisport's designers didn’t foresee this and released a product with such a flaw – it was irritating enough for me that I fixed it myself, and now it’s okay. Considering the price and the class of the equipment, users should not have to make their own modifications. I’m adding photos to this opinion so that other users and Wisport’s designers can see the solution – it would be nice if such an improvement was introduced to the backpacks and offered to people who trusted the brand. In my case, I made the modification using original Wisport parts; I only had to modify the buckles on the straps so I wouldn't have to cut the sewn-on bands.
Wisport Sparrow II 40 l Backpack - RAL 7013
Introducing the updated version of the well-loved Sparrow model! This compact military and survival backpack boasts a 40-liter capacity and is crafted from 500D Cordura in RAL 7013. Built upon the urban Raven design, it is fine-tuned for rigorous field applications.
durable Cordura construction
Constructed from robust 500D Cordura, the entire backpack is crafted from a material that is highly resistant to abrasions and mechanical damage, ensuring prolonged durability in tough environments.
2 compartments, 5 pockets, hydration system
The Sparrow II model comes equipped with two ample compartments. The primary compartment includes four D-rings on the back wall for accessory attachment. The secondary compartment is fitted with an extensive organizer for organizing small items. Inside the main compartment, you'll find mesh pockets secured with zippers. The flap features a flat pocket matching the size of the main compartment, approximately 5 cm deep, suitable for holding documents, maps, or a compact laptop. Additionally, a small quick-access pocket is located on the flap.
Within the backpack, there is a hydration bladder hook, a tube exit hole, and two loops (one on each shoulder strap) for secure attachment.
main zipper, protective flaps
The primary and secondary compartments utilize a two-way zipper that extends along three sides of the flap, offering wide access to the interior. Each zipper is durable and abrasion-resistant, featuring textile pulls for easy handling even with gloves on. The zippers, both for the compartments and the front pocket, are shielded by cover flaps that protect the interior from moisture and dirt.
carrying system, compression straps, transport handle
The AFS - Air Flow System carrying design ensures optimal structural integrity, user comfort, and efficient heat dispersion from the back. Enhanced wearing comfort is also provided by quick-release, extended shoulder straps with adjustable lengths, accompanied by chest and hip straps. The inner sides of the straps are crafted from tightly woven fabric to prevent snagging on clothing. A tunnel on the back accommodates a fiberglass frame compatible with the backpack system (not included).
On each side, there are two compression straps equipped with 30 mm fastex buckles. These facilitate volume reduction and secure attachment of gear like clothing, tarps, sleeping pads, or camouflage nets. A large and wide transport handle is positioned on top to simplify carrying.
MOLLE / PALS
MOLLE/PALS webbing is stitched onto the front, bottom, and sides, enabling the attachment of extra gear or swiftly accessible items for urgent need.
velcro panel
On the front of the backpack, there is a velcro panel designed for affixing patches, unit insignias, national flags, or morale patches.
Set contents
The backpack includes a practical rain cover that efficiently shields both the backpack and its contents from moisture. It is valuable during heavy rain and in tough outdoor environments, ensuring the gear remains dry.

There are no perfect things, but this backpack is very close to ideal. What am I missing? In the first large compartment, a velcro panel for additional organizers could be handy. The side pouches for canteens could be deeper because standard military bottles often slide out and might fall. That's it for the drawbacks. On the plus side: large capacity, regular shape, comfortable carrying system, zippers work smoothly and don't get stuck, durable thick material, and nice color (although that's a matter of preference). For me, the backpack serves as a backup during car trips. It easily fits a booster/power bank, first aid kit, tarp, water boiling set, several packs of freeze-dried food, coffee, tea, cups, multitool, hatchet, knife, large gomboy, blanket, various odds and ends, and still isn't overfilled :) This is exactly what I needed!

The backpack costs quite a bit, but it's definitely worth its price. It has a large capacity and is very practical. The straps are sturdy, durable, and comfortable to wear. The zippers are reliable and work smoothly. Additionally, the included rain cover is a big plus.

I've had it for some time now, so I've had a chance to test it thoroughly. I really appreciate its capacity, the practical additional pockets, and the cover that comes with the set. The backpack may seem quite large, but 40 liters is really a lot of space, which makes it easy to pack a lot of gear. The side pockets with tightening straps are great – you can easily fit an AR stock in there.

Wisport Sparrow 40L backpack Pros: spacious, well-made Cons: no MOLLE straps on the front, water bottle pockets could be bigger as a 1-liter bottle fits but just barely Summary: this is the best backpack I have used so far
-
The backpack is made of very high-quality materials – in this regard, it matches brands like 5.11, Oakley, or Mystery Ranch. The stitching quality is excellent, the AFS carrying system is very comfortable, and the pocket layout and interior organization are flawless. However, I do have some reservations about a few design solutions: the lack of a molle system on the front and its replacement with two straps does not work well in practice. The handle of the shoulder straps has been sewn lower, causing the backpack to stick out and making it impossible to adjust. The side pockets are not functional – a 1L Camelbak bottle easily falls out, and the rows of molle straps on the sides are too short. Additionally, the strips protecting the zipper are poorly designed – they don’t return to place and snag on the zippers. As a result, I decided to return this backpack and am still looking for a 40-liter model.
-
The backpack is well made, nothing is coming apart, the seams are evenly stitched, and using it is really comfortable. The quality-to-price ratio is also very favorable, so I can easily recommend this product.
-
A solid backpack with a well-designed construction. According to the manufacturer, it weighs just under 2 kg without contents, but in my opinion it is light enough for its size. The set also includes a rain cover, which is located in the lower pocket of the backpack – this is definitely an advantage. The whole thing is made with attention to quality. I definitely recommend buying this model.

I switched from the Zipperfox 40 model to this Sparrow. I had previously used the Sparrow 30 liters as well, but I needed something bigger, so I later used the aforementioned Zipper 40. However, I missed having more compartments in it; although it was spacious, one large compartment with a few small pockets was too little. In this backpack, I can easily organize my belongings, and most importantly, it lasts me for three-day trips without any problem. The material is of course excellent Cordura, and the zippers are very well protected. I highly recommend this backpack.
-
Wisport is a synonym for the highest quality. Their backpacks work perfectly regardless of the circumstances. I personally use two models: 40 and 16 liters, which allows me to recommend them with full confidence.
-
I expected more from this backpack, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Pros: high quality workmanship and good materials. Cons: the organizer is completely impractical, located on the inside of the outer flap, so things from open pockets can easily fall out. There are also no load-adjusting straps on the shoulder straps, which, given the large capacity, makes the top of the backpack stick out – it doesn’t look good. The flat pocket in the main compartment could be divided in two, because as it is now, it’s not very useful. I think the backpack still needs some improvements and is not well refined. Maybe future versions will be better. For now – I’m returning it.
-
Overall, the backpack is solid, but the organizer is a complete failure. It is placed on the inside of the front flap, so items can easily fall out when you open it. Also, the organizer is very poorly designed – I am really disappointed. There are also no reinforcing straps at the top of the shoulder straps, which causes the top of the backpack to stick out – this could have been eliminated. It’s a shame because I had high hopes when I bought the backpack, but unfortunately I am disappointed. I am returning it.

Great backpack, exactly what I was looking for. I considered buying the ZipperFox 40, but the choice was determined by the interior dimensions of this model. It works perfectly for two- or three-day trips. The placement of the Pals/Molle attachments is, in my opinion, very well planned. Thanks to the zipper shaped like an inverted U, you can very quickly access the entire contents of the main compartment. The carrying system is very comfortable and an additional advantage is the built-in rain cover.
-
This backpack is relatively heavy and expensive for this category, although the build quality – typical for this brand – remains very good. Many of the applied solutions will work better in urban conditions than in the field. Personally, I wouldn't choose this model for forest trips or long hikes, mainly because of the weight.
-
The quality of the backpack is at a high level, as always with the Wisport brand – both the materials and craftsmanship are excellent. The new technologies improve the comfort and functionality of the model. Thanks to the comfortable carrying system with innovative foam on the back and a built-in hip belt, the weight of the backpack becomes less noticeable.
