Wisport Sparrow II 40 l Backpack - MultiCam Black

Introducing the latest version of the renowned Sparrow model! This compact military and survival backpack offers a capacity of 40 liters and is crafted from 500D Cordura in MultiCam Black camouflage. Its design draws inspiration from the urban Raven model, tailored for rigorous field application.

durable Cordura construction

Crafted from durable 500D Cordura, the entire backpack is exceptionally resistant to abrasions and mechanical damage, ensuring its longevity even in challenging conditions.

2 compartments, 5 pockets, hydration system

The Sparrow II model comes with two roomy compartments. In the main compartment, you'll find four D-rings on the back wall for securing accessories. The secondary compartment boasts an extended organizer ideal for arranging small items. Within the main compartment, there are mesh pockets that feature zippers. The flap encompasses a flat pocket, matching the size of the main compartment and approximately 5 cm deep, perfect for documents, maps, or a compact laptop. Additionally, a small quick-access outer pocket is located on the flap.

The backpack is equipped with a hydration bladder hook, a tube exit hole, and two loops (positioned on each shoulder strap) for secure attachment.

main zipper, protective flaps

The principal and auxiliary compartments are equipped with a two-way zipper that runs along three sides of the flap, offering extensive access to the interior. All zippers boast durability and abrasion resistance, featuring textile pulls for ease of use, even when gloved. The zippers on the compartments and front pocket are safeguarded by cover flaps that protect the interior from moisture and debris.

carrying system, compression straps, transport handle

The AFS - Air Flow System carrying system guarantees optimal structural integrity, user comfort, and efficient cooling from the back. Comfort during wear is further improved by quick-release, extended shoulder straps with adjustable lengths, along with chest and hip straps. The inner side of the straps features a tightly woven fabric that does not snag on clothing. A tunnel designed for a fiberglass frame is located on the back to be compatible with the backpack system (not included).

On each side, there are two compression straps equipped with 30 mm fastex buckles. These facilitate volume reduction and ensure secure attachment of equipment like clothing, tarps, sleeping pads, or camouflage nets. A large and wide transport handle is on top to aid in carrying.

MOLLE / PALS

MOLLE/PALS webbing is stitched onto the front, bottom, and sides, facilitating the attachment of extra gear or quick-access items in urgent need.

velcro panel

The front section of the backpack features a velcro panel designed for affixing patches, unit logos, national flags, or morale patches.

Set contents

The backpack comes with a practical rain cover that effectively protects the backpack and its contents from moisture. It is useful both during heavy rainfall and in challenging outdoor conditions, keeping the equipment safe from getting wet.

MultiCam black camouflage

MultiCam Black is a variant of MultiCam camouflage tailored for police units and special forces tasked with operations in urban settings. Its primary aim is to provide a commanding and professional look, crucial during urban missions. This pattern features predominately black shades, enhanced by subtle gray and green tones, enabling effective concealment within nighttime cityscapes.

manufacturer's warranty

The backpack includes a 5-year warranty from the manufacturer.

I recently ordered it, and for me it's perfect. Compared with earlier models, this one already has built-in compression straps in the upper part of the backpack, which makes it possible to pull the top in closer to the shoulder straps. You can see that Wisport listens to its customers.

Fantastic backpack. The quality is outstanding. The 500D Cordura is tough but doesn’t wear out fabrics the way 1000D can. I hesitated for a long time before buying it (it ultimately became a gift that my wife wanted to give me), because it had everything except load lifter straps, whose absence many buyers complained about in several reviews I had read. Imagine my surprise when, upon receiving the backpack, I noticed that the manufacturer had in fact added those straps. The backpack is now truly complete and ready to be put to the test. I’ll be using it on hikes and for travel as carry-on luggage, as the dimensions are perfectly suitable. I can confirm all the positive reviews I had read so far regarding the quality of the materials and the finish. The backpack weighs nearly 2 kg, so it’s not the lightest, but I was specifically looking for something sturdy. The rear pocket against the back (intended for a hydration bladder, with a removable vertical aluminum bar that reinforces the stiffness of the back panel) can easily hold a 15-inch laptop. Granted, the pocket isn’t padded, but it does benefit from the exterior foam of the back panel. That said, this is not a backpack specifically designed for carrying a laptop, and that’s worth keeping in mind. Excellent purchase (or rather: gift, in my case). Finally, I’d suggest to the Military website that if this version 2.0 of the backpack (with the load lifter straps) really is a new version, they should update the description and the photos. I’m certain that with this additional detail, many people will no longer have any doubts about buying it.

This is a longer term review. I've worn and used this pack quite a lot now. It's my third Wisport. The quality of manufacture and durability are top notch. These packs are built to last. The zippers are sturdy, the material is good quality. Olive green is a very beautiful color in my opinion. The pack is comfortable to wear, ventilation is average. The straps are well designed. I usually remove the waist strap as I don't need it. Even without it the pack is comfortable to carry. You can orderly pack a lot of gear in this pack, since it is roomy. One thing I do not like about this design at all, it could even be hazardous to those using this in duty: there is a gap between the shoulder straps and the top of the pack. If you are moving in dense environments and brush you easily get stuck as branches get stuck in just this gap. It has happened to me repeatedly so you have to keep that in mind when you move in forests. I really don't understand the reasoning behind this design aspect. Other than that I am happy with this pack, it has served me well and I am sure it will serve me well much longer. My next pack will definitely be another Wisport.

Built for durability, the Wisport Sparrow II 40L is a high-capacity pack that excels in organization. It comfortably fits a laptop and tablet with room to spare, maintaining a professional profile. The Cordura construction ensures long-term resistance, while the side compression straps are top-tier—keeping the load stable and preventing gear from shifting when the pack isn't at full capacity.

A convenient and spacious city backpack. High-quality fittings and sturdy construction. Large main compartment. There is an option to carry a 14" laptop in the compartment near the back. The organizer made of mesh inside the main compartment is quite roomy. I am satisfied with the backpack.

This is a really solid backpack – it has served me well on several of my trips, and it is surprisingly comfortable to carry things in, which positively surprised me for this type of backpack. After unfastening the hip belt, it can easily replace a cabin suitcase because it has a similar size. I always take it with me on flights and it works great. The materials it's made of are high quality – I’ve been using it for over a year, and it still looks brand new. The top pocket of the backpack is a very practical solution – you can store, for example, headphones, gloves, or glasses there, and at the same time, it's discreet and allows you to quickly grab small items you need. However, there is one downside that other users have also mentioned: the lack of straps tightening the shoulder straps at the top of the backpack causes the upper part to stick out after it's fully packed, and it looks unaesthetic. I’m surprised that Wisport's designers didn’t foresee this and released a product with such a flaw – it was irritating enough for me that I fixed it myself, and now it’s okay. Considering the price and the class of the equipment, users should not have to make their own modifications. I’m adding photos to this opinion so that other users and Wisport’s designers can see the solution – it would be nice if such an improvement was introduced to the backpacks and offered to people who trusted the brand. In my case, I made the modification using original Wisport parts; I only had to modify the buckles on the straps so I wouldn't have to cut the sewn-on bands.

There are no perfect things, but this backpack is very close to ideal. What am I missing? In the first large compartment, a velcro panel for additional organizers could be handy. The side pouches for canteens could be deeper because standard military bottles often slide out and might fall. That's it for the drawbacks. On the plus side: large capacity, regular shape, comfortable carrying system, zippers work smoothly and don't get stuck, durable thick material, and nice color (although that's a matter of preference). For me, the backpack serves as a backup during car trips. It easily fits a booster/power bank, first aid kit, tarp, water boiling set, several packs of freeze-dried food, coffee, tea, cups, multitool, hatchet, knife, large gomboy, blanket, various odds and ends, and still isn't overfilled :) This is exactly what I needed!

The backpack costs quite a bit, but it's definitely worth its price. It has a large capacity and is very practical. The straps are sturdy, durable, and comfortable to wear. The zippers are reliable and work smoothly. Additionally, the included rain cover is a big plus.

I've had it for some time now, so I've had a chance to test it thoroughly. I really appreciate its capacity, the practical additional pockets, and the cover that comes with the set. The backpack may seem quite large, but 40 liters is really a lot of space, which makes it easy to pack a lot of gear. The side pockets with tightening straps are great – you can easily fit an AR stock in there.

Wisport Sparrow 40L backpack Pros: spacious, well-made Cons: no MOLLE straps on the front, water bottle pockets could be bigger as a 1-liter bottle fits but just barely Summary: this is the best backpack I have used so far

The backpack is made of very high-quality materials – in this regard, it matches brands like 5.11, Oakley, or Mystery Ranch. The stitching quality is excellent, the AFS carrying system is very comfortable, and the pocket layout and interior organization are flawless. However, I do have some reservations about a few design solutions: the lack of a molle system on the front and its replacement with two straps does not work well in practice. The handle of the shoulder straps has been sewn lower, causing the backpack to stick out and making it impossible to adjust. The side pockets are not functional – a 1L Camelbak bottle easily falls out, and the rows of molle straps on the sides are too short. Additionally, the strips protecting the zipper are poorly designed – they don’t return to place and snag on the zippers. As a result, I decided to return this backpack and am still looking for a 40-liter model.

The backpack is well made, nothing is coming apart, the seams are evenly stitched, and using it is really comfortable. The quality-to-price ratio is also very favorable, so I can easily recommend this product.

A solid backpack with a well-designed construction. According to the manufacturer, it weighs just under 2 kg without contents, but in my opinion it is light enough for its size. The set also includes a rain cover, which is located in the lower pocket of the backpack – this is definitely an advantage. The whole thing is made with attention to quality. I definitely recommend buying this model.

I switched from the Zipperfox 40 model to this Sparrow. I had previously used the Sparrow 30 liters as well, but I needed something bigger, so I later used the aforementioned Zipper 40. However, I missed having more compartments in it; although it was spacious, one large compartment with a few small pockets was too little. In this backpack, I can easily organize my belongings, and most importantly, it lasts me for three-day trips without any problem. The material is of course excellent Cordura, and the zippers are very well protected. I highly recommend this backpack.

Wisport is a synonym for the highest quality. Their backpacks work perfectly regardless of the circumstances. I personally use two models: 40 and 16 liters, which allows me to recommend them with full confidence.
