Flecktarn is a classic German military camouflage pattern, officially introduced for use by the Bundeswehr in 1990. The pattern is based on small, irregular spots in five colors – typically dark green, olive, brown, black and beige. With the distribution of numerous dots and blurred boundaries between the colors, Flecktarn effectively distracts from the wearer's silhouette in forest terrain, as well as in scrubland or against the background of forest undergrowth. The camouflage was designed for European climatic conditions, especially for the temperate zone.
